About Our Opportunity

 

We are looking for someone who enjoys solving business problems by providing innovative solutions.  As a member of the Service Design and Delivery (SDD) Housing Solutions Team, and reporting to the Manager, Housing Solutions, you will provide professional analytical services to departmental program/business units to find practical solutions to address fundamental business problems. This requires taking a leadership role in defining solutions, testing and deploying changes and maintaining business applications in various business domains for client departments and agencies.  You play a senior role in ensuring that new and existing business solutions (in-house developed or 3rd party commercial) meet the needs of the clients and are developed and maintained under the government Information Technology (IT) standards, methodologies, and best practices.
 

Primary Accountabilities

 

As the Application Analyst, you will:

 

  • Provide technical support to business systems users for COTS and custom solutions through consulting, troubleshooting, problem identification, options analysis, and training and education.
  • Record issues raised and work with business clients, other Internal Services colleagues, external consultants to ensure issues are addressed and resolved.
  • Prepare and document business and functional requirements, business process definitions, and system specifications including assessment of the current situation, problem definition, development of solution recommendations, opportunity evaluation.
  • Work closely with clients to understand their business needs and act as a liaison for clients in the resolution of business application related problems.
  • Direct system development efforts by providing guidance to other technical staff and outside vendors and organizing and maintaining team support documentation.
  • Plan and coordinate software release deployment activities.

 

Qualifications and Experience

 

To be considered for this position, you must have a Bachelor's Degree in Business, Information Technology, or Computer Science and 3 years related experience or graduation from a recognized Information Technology Program and 3.5 years of related experience; or an equivalent combination of training and experience may be acceptable.  Related experience must include business analysis and production support experience.

 

In addition, as the successful candidate, you have the following skills, training, and work experience:

 

  • Experience working as part of a team in an application support organization;
  • A high degree of analytical and logical problem-solving capabilities;
  • Experience producing business requirements, functional specification documents, and options analysis materials;
  • Experience in testing custom-built and commercial applications;
  • Strong organizational skills that facilitate managing multiple tasks simultaneously under tight deadlines;
  • Proficiency in SQL (Microsoft/Oracle etc.) and its extensions (TSQL/PL/SQL etc.) script writing.
  • Excellent interpersonal and English communication skills (written and verbal);
  • Able to work well independently and as part of a cross-functional team;
  • A meticulous eye for detail and take pride in your work;
  • Ability to quickly adapt and learn new technologies;
  • Able to work remotely using tools like Microsoft 365, Teams, Skype, Zoom, etc.

Pay Grade:  PR 14  

Salary Range:  $2,488.52 - $3,030.25 Bi-Weekly
