About Our Opportunity


As the Coordinator, you will coordinate workforce development initiatives that advance early childhood education classification, training, professional development programs and services.


As the Coordinator, you will project manage initiatives to meet timelines and deliver on provincially and federally funded commitments that includes maintaining information for accurate reporting by the Branch, completing evidence-based research, monitoring, and evaluating results for future priorities.


The Coordinator develops and maintains provincial policies, standards and guidelines that are responsive to the changing early learning workforce and are fair, transparent, culturally responsive and objective. As well you will use policies and standards to conduct assessments of internationally acquired academic credentials for the purpose of classification and assessment of Canadian trained individuals when required.


This position is based in Halifax and reports to the Manager of Workforce Development, Early Childhood Development and Pre-primary Branch.

Primary Accountabilities


  • Ensures the department complies or aligns with the Early Learning and Child Care Act as well as other legislation that impacts the training and classification of early childhood educators such as the Private Career Colleges Act, Community Colleges Act and Regulations and the Fair Registration Practices Act
  • You are comfortable working in a cooperative team environment and maintain multiple reporting accountabilities
  • May support other Managers within the branch as well as working in teams across branches


Qualifications and Experience


To be successful in this role you have a Bachelors’ degree in a related field with 5 years related experience. An acceptable combination of education and experience will be considered.


You will also have demonstrated experience in Project management to lead projects and initiatives which could include working across teams in a collaborative environment.  You have experience conducting research and compiling information and data, drafting reports, presentations, workplans and other documents or charts to facilitate decision making. 


You have experience in conflict resolution and time management skills to successfully develop and manage multiple priorities with competing deadlines. You can develop and maintain partnerships with internal and external stakeholders, and strong facilitation skills to manage project teams and large working groups. 


You also have strong communication (written and verbal) and facilitation skills.  And You are proficient with computer systems (Microsoft Word, and Excel, Power-Point), database systems, internet-based applications.


Assets for this position

  • Familiarity with the early childhood education profession
  • Bilingualism (French/English)

Additional Information


This is a 2-year Term employment opportunity with an anticipated end date of December 21, 2022. The appointment status (‘term’, ‘temporary’ or ‘casual’) is dependent on the start date of the successful candidate.

Pay Grade:  PR 13  

Salary Range:  $2,384.94 - $2,899.09 Bi-Weekly
