Your Role and Its Impact


As the Director, Digital Identity and Trust you will be responsible for: 


  • Leading and delivering an inclusive, privacy-enhancing suite of digital identity and trust product offerings that work for all Nova Scotians, unlock opportunities for accessing government and private sector services, decrease burden for both government and Nova Scotians, and provide a consistent user-experience while improving the delivery of services.
  • Working collectively with multiple government programs and services to build and execute a Digital Identity and Trust roadmap and actionable plan for the delivery of multiple products and services including digitally verifying Nova Scotians, verifiable credentials, trusted digital wallets, and the necessary public digital infrastructure, etc.
  • Partnering and collaborating across multiple levels of government to build strategic, multi-jurisdictional plans for advancing digital identity and trust for Canadians.
  • Providing leadership to multi-disciplinary teams using internet-era ways of working to deliver and operate products for digital identity and trust.
  • Establishing a Program with the supporting legislation, policy, and governance necessary to operate product offerings that accelerate the delivery of a broad range of government services.
  • Bringing high-quality technological capability into government to drive the transformation that enables next generation digital public services, and high-quality working environments for public servants. 

How you can make an impact


  • Build a strong team of engaged, internet-era technology, servant leaders. Empower them to use internet-era ways of working, keep a strong focus on delivery priorities, be accountable for delivery, and act swiftly to respond to changing requirements.
  • Develop and implement Digital Identity and Trust initiatives to unlock better access to high-value services for Nova Scotians.
  • Deliver Digital Identity and Trust services that reduce burden for Government staff and Nova Scotians by enabling high-value services to be delivered safely and securely through digital ways.
  • Offer ways for providing Nova Scotians with greater protection and control over their digital information. 
  • Create new ways of understanding the digital era and identifying barriers for Digital Identity and Trust so they can be challenged and transformed digitally. 
  • Align strategic business goals with technical delivery schedules. This includes but is not limited to high-level planning and sizing of roadmap initiatives, supported by incremental agile delivery metrics for assessing and forecasting progress.
  • Sourcing and managing outsourced consultants and ensuring they are delivering on scope for advancing various services.
  • Work collaboratively across the organization to exchange best practice, develop cross-government strategic direction and deliver excellent user-centered products.
  • Be responsible for the financial position of various Digital Identity and Trust services, promoting and visibly demonstrating a culture of value for money.

  • leading a team in a complex and dynamic environment to deliver on multiple high impact digital projects
  • planning, shaping, strategizing, and delivering user-centred digital identity and/or trust products that meet citizens needs
  • partnering across multi-layered organizational/system structures to achieve better business/policy/citizen outcomes 
  • establishing appropriate program structures, such as supporting policy and formalized governance structures
  • internet-era practices, and ability to effectively engage with multidisciplinary teams to achieve business/policy outcomes 
  • user centered and product management approaches to ensuring the secure delivery of services 
  • innovative approaches to sourcing services
  • effective budget management and human resource allocation.

Additional Information


While this position is based in Halifax, travel throughout the province will be required periodically. 

On October 6, 2021 the Government of Nova Scotia announced full vaccination will be a condition of employment for new staff being hired.




Pay Grade:  EC 14 

Salary Range:  $4,075.74 - $5,106.37 Bi-Weekly
