About Our Opportunity

 

As the Senior Financial Analyst, you will be accountable for a wide and varied range of financial support services across all divisions of the client department. You will be responsible for the preparation of accurate and timely financial information to meet budget, forecast, financial reporting requirements and client requirements as needed, and providing budget assistance and financial advice and analysis. You may lead and manage Financial Advisory Services staff in the delivery of these functions. You have a sound working knowledge of all aspects of accounting, procurement, finance, and departmental procedures and policies.

As the Senior Financial Analyst, you will report to the Manager, Financial Advisory Services.

Primary Accountabilities

 

  • Perform and/or coordinate the day-to-day operations of the financial advisory services, including forecasting and annual budget process. 
  • Monthly and annual accounting procedures and annual audit process.
  • Provides director, manager, and program managers with advice and recommendations on matters relating to accounting, audit procedures, financial policies and government financial reporting system.
  • Provide clients and staff training.
  • Monitor and evaluate financial processes and transactions for compliance with Public Sector Accounting Board (PSAB) and government accounting policies.
  • Ensure client departments financial information processing and reporting is accurate and timely and that client service standards are established, monitored, and achieved.
     

About You

 

  • This may be the right opportunity for you if you have completed three (3) years post-secondary professional accounting training, plus six (6) years related experience, or an acceptable equivalent combination of training and experience.
  • You are proficient with Microsoft suite of services (and Excel in particular). You are self-motivated, confident and capable of performing under pressure. You are able to work both independently and within a team environment. You possess excellent organizational, interpersonal, and communication (verbal and written) skills, particularly as they relate to the communication and interpretation of financial results to non-financial program staff. You have exceptional time management skills with a strong attention to detail to provide timely and accurate financial information while managing multiple projects and priorities.
  • While not required, it is considered an asset if you are proficient with the corporate financial management system (SAP) and Salary Analysis System (SAS).
  • We will assess the above qualifications and competencies using one or more of the following tools: written examination, standardized tests, oral presentations, interview(s), and reference checks.

Working Conditions

 

Normal work week is 35 hours/week, 7 hours/day.

May be required to work overtime on occasion.

Pay Grade:  TE 24  

Salary Range:  $2,370.01 - $2,791.38 Bi-Weekly
