About Our Opportunity


The Youth Employment Programs unit at the department of Labour, Skills and Immigration is looking for a strong team-player with a commitment to great client service to join our dynamic team as our Program Administration Officer. 


We strengthen Nova Scotia’s economy by helping post-secondary students and graduates to secure good jobs through four employment programs.  Our work helps businesses thrive and young people to prepare for and land good jobs in their chosen careers.


As the Program Admin Officer, you manage many agreements with overlapping milestones and deadlines. The Program Admin Officer deals with multiple tasks and a certain amount of complexity, and ensure files are maintained and managed using LaMPSS, the province’s online labour market information system.  

Primary Accountabilities


In this role you: 


  • Manage the full life-cycle of funding agreements.
  • Manage assessment to final financial calculation and payout.
  • Recommend approval or non-approval of program funding based on the relative merit of each application compared with other applications.
  • Interact with business and not-for-profit clients.
  • Chase information and ensure the integrity of each agreement. 

Qualifications and Experience


Bachelor’s degree and two years of related experience, or an acceptable equivalent combination of training and experience. 


As the successful candidate you are client-focused and possess the ability to forge partnerships representing the provincial government with a variety of audiences both internally and externally.


You are a team player with strong interpersonal skills, can build productive relationships and open to learning new skills to compliment your existing competenciesYou have effective verbal and written communication skills and strong time management skills. You are detail-orientated and can manage and prioritize complex and competing deliverables while ensuring accuracy.


They must be proficient in computer programs (Word, Excel, Power Point) and proficiency in one or more online databases (e.g. LaMPSS, Amanada, SAP, RJSC, etc)


We will assess the above qualifications and competencies using one or more of the following tools: Interview(s), reference checks, oral presentations, and written exercises.

Pay Grade:  PR 06 - PR 10  

Salary Range:  $1,805.02 - $2,588.45 Bi-Weekly




This is a bargaining unit position initially restricted to current civil service employees represented by the Nova Scotia Government Employees Union (NSGEU).
