Procurement is a branch of Service Nova Scotia and Internal Services (SNS-IS). Our staff provide knowledge and expertise to our clients as they seek unique, creative, sustainable procurement solutions for complex business needs. We oversee the Nova Scotia Sustainable Procurement Policy and manage the high value procurement process for government departments, the Nova Scotia Health Authority and the IWK.

 

We guide agencies, boards, and commissions as well as the greater public sector including municipalities, academic institutions, and schools in their procurement efforts.

 

We provide outreach and education to our supplier community encouraging them to become part of the public procurement equation. We also deliver sustainable procurement education to our internal client department as well as those in the MASH sector.

Procurement is looking for a Project Coordinator to lead and oversee all aspects of project management activities on a tactical level for the development and delivery of a Supplier Performance Management initiative. 

 

This position reports to the Manager, Policy, Process and Risk in the Corporate Strategy division.

Primary Accountabilities

 

-Delivers and provides direction and/or development of tactical project plans working within an established project management strategy.

 

-Identifies shortcomings and suggests improvements to existing processes, systems, and procedures. 

 

-Promotes the value of the project throughout the stakeholder community.


-Ensures elements of a change management are woven into project plans and key project communications


-Delivers on the established outcomes by managing day-to-day relationships with internal and external stakeholders


-Develops and/or delivers a plan for aspects of communications with guidance from senior colleagues. This includes ongoing monitoring and reporting of project activities.


-Delivers outcomes by supervising others and monitoring the project team to facilitate project objectives and ensures that appropriate project management methodologies and best practice are followed.

 

May perform other related duties as assigned.
 

Qualifications and Experience

 

You will have a bachelor’s degree in a related area plus five (5) years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of training and experience. A Master’s degree would be considered an asset.


In addition, to be successful as a Coordinator, you will have:
•    proven experience in leading, developing and delivery of a project and/or projects.
•    demonstrated experience with supplier performance management 
•    demonstrated experience with contract management 
•    demonstrated ability to work cooperatively and build support with diverse groups and individuals to complete projects.
•    demonstrated experience prioritizing high levels of work under tight timelines
•    demonstrated experience in process improvement
•    strong interpersonal skills
•    experience creating reporting methods and tracking data
•    excellent organization skills and exercise sound judgement under pressure
•    excellent writing skills for items including communication, presentations, or reports
•    demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, Teams, and Excel
•    thorough understanding of change management principles.
•    a passion for continuous improvement

 

The following will be considered assets:
•    PMP Designation
•    Experience in public procurement


We will assess the above qualifications and competencies using one or more of the following tools: written examination, standardized tests, oral presentations, interview(s), and reference checks.

An equivalent combination of training, education and experience will be considered.

This is a TERM employment opportunity with anticipated end date of January 31, 2023.  The appointment status (‘term’, ‘temporary’ or ‘casual’) is dependent on the start date of the successful candidate.

 

Due to social distancing requirements implemented in response to COVID-19, ability to work remotely will be required when beginning in this position and may continue for the length of the term.

Pay Grade:  PR 13  

Salary Range:  $2,396.86 - $2,913.59 Bi-Weekly
