At the Safety Branch of the Department of Labour, Skills, and Immigration, we are responsible for delivering effective and efficient regulatory management for the protection of the public and workers’ safety through education, outreach, inspection and enforcement, equipment registration, permits, and licenses.

As the Senior Policy Analyst you will be leading research, policy and planning in a key strategic role for the branch.  You will be responsible for providing strategic advice, developing, implementing, and managing large projects. As the Senior Policy Analyst you will be responsible for research capability and leadership necessary to ensure the success of complex, challenging and dynamic policy implications with respect to the compliance programs for operation of both Occupational Health and Safety and Technical Safety.

 

You will lead consulting with, and facilitating, high level collaborations among stakeholders. You ensure programs and services are integrated and appropriately aligned with legislation, budget and planning objectives and clearly support strategic goals and priorities of the division.

 

Primary Accountabilities

 

  • lead development and evaluation of policy options, including leading this work with the Occupational Health and Safety Advisory Council,
  • provide senior strategic and planning expertise to the branch’s Senior Leadership Team and
  • lead aspects of the legislative process, including preparation of submissions to Executive Council and lead stakeholder consultations.

Qualifications and Experience

 

This may be the right opportunity for you if you have a bachelor’s degree with 6 years of related experience, an equivalent combination of training and experience may be considered.

 

As the successful candidate you have demonstrated experience and thorough knowledge of the public policy development process, including policy analysis and significant experience in planning and strategy.

 

You possess strong organizational planning capability. You possess strong leadership skills and a proven ability to collaborate. You are an exceptional communicator (written and verbal) with strong negotiation, presentation, analytical and facilitation skills to successfully build support within the division. You have excellent relationship building skills, with experience building and maintaining relationships with both internal and external stakeholders and values a diverse and inclusive workforce. You bring a creative and innovative approach when making recommendations. You enjoy working in a fast-paced environment.

 

You are proficient using Microsoft Office programs, specifically with Microsoft Project, Power-Point and Excel.

 

Assets for this position:

 

  • Experience working with board and councils
  • Experience in evaluation, measurement, risk, change

Pay Grade:  EC 11 

Salary Range:  $3,062.13 - $3,836.49 Bi-Weekly
