We’re recruiting for summer students to help our province achieve big things!

 

The Road Safety Collision Team at the Department of Transportation and Infrastructure Renewal (TIR) is responsible for processing collision reports received from police agencies across the province. Collision data informs road safety initiatives which is a critical component of public safety and a top priority for the department.  

About Our Opportunity

 

As the Clerical student, you will gain practical administrative experience and receive training and coaching from subject matter experts. This is also the perfect opportunity to gain an understanding of the workings of provincial government.  

 

You will assist staff with a range of duties which support the work of the collision team and contributes to the overall road safety mandate by:

 

  • Providing customer service to both the public and Road Safety staff
  • Organizing, filing, and preparing documents
  • Sorting, scanning and distributing incoming correspondence and reports
  • Maintaining and updating files and records
  • Processing collision records (electronic or hardcopy)   
  • Providing backup in other sections of the Road Safety division 

 

There will be opportunity to gain exposure to a regulatory environment where decisions and actions are governed by the provincial Motor Vehicle Act and associated regulations. You’ll also learn about other government departments, as well as have exposure to sources of external information including Law Enforcement and Insurance industry.

About You

 

You are a first-year student enrolled in a business administration or related program and returning to school in the fall (or in the next applicable semester for the education program).   

 

As the ideal candidate you:

  

  • are familiar with computers including office software such as Microsoft Word and Excel;
  • are organized and able to prioritize your work;
  • demonstrate excellent communication and customer service skills when responding to enquires by phone or email;
  • are detail oriented and accurate in data entry/processing;
  • consistently maintain confidentiality.

 

We will assess the above qualifications and competencies using one or more of the following tools: written examination, standardized tests, oral presentations, interview(s), and reference checks.

This position has an anticipated end date of August 30, 2019.

 

Pay Grade:  HOURLY - HOURLY  

 

Salary Range:  $15.55 - $25.34 Hourly
