Do you want to make a huge impact and help deliver exciting geomatics solutions to partners? If you do, we are looking for someone like you to join our team. We are looking to strengthen our team with the addition of a Geomatics Data Administrator.

Primary Accountabilities

 

We are looking for a geomatics data administrator to work with teams with effective problem-solving skills and improving data management and data publishing tasks within government’s spatial data infrastructure, which is critical to delivering quality and trusted government programs and services. 

 

Geomatics Data Administrator responsibilities include: 

 

  • Lead geographic data architecture for the provincial Spatial Data Infrastructure, ensuring optimal performance, security, and storage of geographic data.
  • Work closely with contributors and users, lead the design and development of enterprise geographic data models, including transactional and warehousing models ensuring optimal performance, integrity and security.
  • Manage Extract, Transform, and Load (ETL) processes for geographic data, including regular testing of ETL scripts for data updates.
  • Supervision of a team of geomatics professionals.
  • Processing of GIS data for distribution via various channels, including the Spatial Data Warehouse (SDW), data for web-applications, map services, Open Data, and downloadable distribution packages.

Qualifications and Experience

 

To be successful in this role, you will have a bachelor’s degree in a relevant field plus a minimum of six (6) years of experience or an equivalent combination of training and experience may be acceptable

 

  • Oracle database expertise with knowledge of geospatial data management.
  • Strong understanding of database structures, theories, principles, and practices.
  • Demonstrated experience with data workflows and Extract, Transform, and Load (ETL) processes for geographic data
  • Ability to troubleshoot basic to complex problems, and excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Knowledge of structured query language (SQL).
  • Understanding of Geographic Information Systems (Esri), geographic data, and related principals

Working Conditions

 

  • Normal work week is 35 hours/week, 7 hours/day.
  • May be required to work overtime on occasion.
  • Majority of time spent in an office environment.
  • Travel within communities across Nova Scotia will may occasionally be required.

Pay Grade:  PR 17  

Salary Range:  $3,107.16 - $3,649.33 Bi-Weekly
