Internal Expressions of Interest

Expressions of Interest are restricted to eligible Nova Scotia Government bargaining unit employees covered by the Civil Service Master Agreement between the Government of Nova Scotia and the Nova Scotia Government & General Employees Union.

If you are an existing Government of Nova Scotia employee, and you qualify to apply for an Internal Expression of Interest, please click on this link to apply.

To be eligible for Expression of Interest consideration, an employee must have completed their probationary period, and be within the same classification and the same department as the posted position. All applications will be screened according to Fair Hiring Policy guidelines and the Collective Agreement. Where more than one Expression of Interest is received, the employee with the greatest length of service will be identified and the employee’s ability, experience, qualifications and any special skills or qualifications, as posted, will be assessed. Assessment tools may include an interview, written exercises and/or practical testing. One employment reference check is conducted with the employee's current supervisor. If a position is not filled through an Expression of Interest, the hiring manager will proceed with the posted competition in the usual manner.

Expressions of Interest are not open to:

  • the general public
  • casual employees
  • temporary employees
  • relief employees
  • term employees who have not completed twelve (12) continuous months of service
  • probationary employees
  • EC employees
  • OIC appointees
