About Us


Building and maintaining our provincial infrastructure is no small job.


The Department of Transportation and Infrastructure Renewal (Department) designs, constructs and maintains provincial highways, public buildings, bridges and other related infrastructure.


With a mandate to provide the safe and efficient movement of people and goods, the maintenance and upkeep of our 23,000 kilometers of roads and highways and 4,100 bridges is paramount to our core responsibilities.

Primary Accountabilities


Reporting to the Financial Services Officer 2, the Clerk is responsible for processing a broad range of accounting and payroll documents while ensuring they are accurate and completed within deadlines. The Clerk, in accordance with the CUPE Collective Agreement, verifies for accuracy and performs the input of CUPE employee payroll data in SAP.  In addition, this position processes invoices, journal entries, inventory usage, travel expense reports, and other financial documents/transactions, while ensuring proper documentation and signing authority are assigned in accordance with Departmental guidelines.  As a member of the Area office clerical team, the Clerk provides back-up to the Secretary, and must be familiar with office practices and TIR Programs and Departmental Policies for efficient and professional customer service delivery.

Qualifications and Experience


You have four (4) years of related experience including payroll experience, or an equivalent combination of training and experience may be acceptable. 


Must have experience working with confidential financial and personnel related information; discretion is required in dealing with this information. 


Computer skills are required; must be proficient using a variety of software tools including word processing, spreadsheets, custom databases, SAP (accounting), and Outlook (electronic mail). 


Must be able to use full functionality of office equipment and technology and have a broad knowledge of office practices and procedures. 


The incumbent must be able to work independently with minimal supervision while utilizing sound judgement. 


Exceptional organization and time management skills are required for prioritization and effective management of multiple projects and high volume of tasks in order to meet strict deadlines.  Strong communication skills are essential. 


A working knowledge or a diploma /certificate in Accounting would be considered an asset.


Knowledge of Departmental programs and policies, familiarity with the terminology used in an Engineering/Architectural environment, SAP experience, and French language knowledge are assets.

Working Conditions


  • Normal work week is 35 hours/week, 7 hours/day.
  • May be required to work overtime on occasion.
  • Typically located in comfortable office environment.
  • Much of the time is spent in a comfortable position with frequent opportunity to move about.
  • Regularly reads and interprets multiple sources of information, regular requirement to type, read and work on a computer.
  • May experience pressure with deadlines and need for accuracy.

Pay Grade:  CL 18  

Salary Range:  $1,579.09 - $1,766.79 Bi-Weekly
