Who we are


The Hope Landing Child Caring Facility will deliver youth (ages 12-16) residential services and operates twenty-four (24) hours of the day, seven (7) days per week.


A day in the life of a Counsellor


You will report directly to the Team Leader (Counsellor 3) and will be responsible for administering approved care plans and providing care to the youth.


You are responsible for accurate reporting, file maintenance, crisis intervention, and assisting with developing programs and activities.


What makes a great Counsellor


Approved child & youth care worker diploma from a provincially approved post‐secondary institution; or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience may be acceptable.


You will have a comprehensive understanding of the needs of youth in residential care, along with effective report writing skills, verbal communication and counselling skills. You will also maintain rapport and serve as a role model and demonstrate an approach toward the children/youth which is compatible with the program model of the facility.


The Counsellor can work as part of a team with minimal supervision, exercise attention to detail and have discretion with confidential matters. A valid driver’s license is required. Knowledge of the Children and Family Services Act and Family Court proceedings would be considered assets.


We will assess the above qualifications and competencies using one or more of the following tools: written examination, standardized tests, oral presentations, interview(s), and reference checks.


What you need to know


Because the facility is a 24/7 (open) operation, shift work (days, evenings, weekends and holidays) is required.




Pay Grade:  TE 18  


Salary Range:  $22.29 - $29.49 Hourly
