About Our Opportunity

 

Under the direction of the Casework Supervisor and/or Regional Service Delivery Manager, the Overpayment Clerk is responsible for the completion of detailed and complex calculations of overpayments/underpayments incurred by recipients under the Income Assistance and Employment Support (ESIA) Program.

Primary Accountabilities

 

You will work in collaboration with departmental staff (ex. Prevention, Detection and Recovery Unit, ESIA Caseworkers, Eligibility Review Officers) for the purposes of completing overpayments/underpayments.

 

You will ensure accurate information is maintained and assessable. A few of your key responsibilities will include:

 

  • Maintain log for tracking and management of workload
  • Complete a thorough analysis, and cross-reference various information sources including supporting documentation, and interpretation of the ESIA Act, Regulations and Policy
  • Complete detailed overpayment/underpayment calculations
  • Document and communicate results of calculations to the ESIA Caseworker
  • Add overpayment/underpayment to the ICM system, including detailed case notes, pending commitment by the Caseworker
  • Meet applicable time frames as per legislation

 

Qualifications and Experience

You have at least four (4) years of related experience in accounting, administration, and/or bookkeeping.

 

As an Overpayment Clerk, you demonstrate the ability to work independently and under pressure and meet deadlines while exercising good judgement around issues requiring a high degree of tact and diplomacy. Excellent accuracy in completing mathematical calculations and attention to detail is key, as well as the ability to analyze information and exercise good judgment while accessing case file information.

 

Strong communication and organizational skills, proficiency and demonstrated skills in keyboarding and advanced word processing: Microsoft Word, Excel and web-based programs. Knowledge and understanding of the Department of Community Services (DCS) along with working knowledge of the programs administered by Income Assistance (Family Benefits and Social Assistance Act, Regulations and Policies) is highly desirable,

Working Conditions

 

Your normal work week is 35 hours/week, 7 hours/day. Work is performed primarily in an open office environment. This role requires repetitive tasks on regular basis; good hand dexterity for continual phone and computer use is beneficial. This role also requires a high level of visual and mental concentration. There is a high degree of pressure present while maintaining accuracy and balancing the volume of work and meeting deadlines.

Pay Grade:  CL 18  

Salary Range:  $1,684.00 - $1,884.17 Bi-Weekly
