About Our Opportunity

 

The Clerk, (Employment Services Representative (ESR)) delivers the Job Bank for Employers Program (JBERS) - a national Internet job advertisement service. 

 

As the Employment Services Representative (ESR) you provide general information on Labour, Skills and Immigration (LSI) programs and services for Nova Scotian job seekers, workers, and employers. The Clerk (ESR) works closely with other clerks (ESRs) to support the effective administration of the Job Bank in Nova Scotia.

 

Also, as the Employment Services Representative you may be required to provide administrative support to the division as required to assist the smooth operation of the office.

 

This position reports to the Manager, Sector Initiatives.

Primary Accountabilities

 

The key responsibilities of this position include:

  • Promoting the JBERS "self-service" option and providing relevant information to employers;
  • Receiving and screening job ads against stated policy and guidelines, Federal and Provincial labour legislation;
  • Walking employers through the self-serve IT process and;
  • Generation of statistical reports for management (filing, database entry and maintenance and support to field staff)

Qualifications and Experience

 

To be successful in this role you have completed grade 12 and have 3 years of relevant experience working in a professional environment, or an equivalent combination of training and experience may be accepted.

 

You also have excellent customer service experience working with diverse populations, enjoy a fast-paced environment, have experience with coordination of information, and have well-developed analytical skills.  You have experience with interviewing techniques to determine required employer information and some knowledge of the Job Bank and understanding of employer's recruitment issues.

 

This position requires flexibility and ability to work independently as well as in a team, and handling multiple tasks in a demanding, dynamic environment. You are proficient using Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word and Excel), and the Internet and proficient with data entry manipulation. 

 

Fluency in French would be considered an asset. 

 

We will assess the above qualifications using one or more of the following tools: written examination, standardized tests, oral presentations, interview(s), and reference checks.

Working Conditions

 

  • Normal work week is 35 hours/week, 7 hours/day
  • May be required to work overtime on occasion

Additional Information

 

This is a term employment opportunity with anticipated end date of December 1, 2023.  The appointment status (‘term’ or ‘temporary’) is dependent on the start date of the successful candidate.

Pay Grade:  CL 18  

Salary Range:  $1,626.82 - $1,820.19 Bi-Weekly
