About Us


Legislative Television (LTV), established in 1991 is responsible for the broadcast of the proceedings of the Nova Scotia House of Assembly. Under the direction of the Speaker, LTV is responsible for the broadcast of the proceedings of the Nova Scotia House of Assembly, the recording of all legislative debates, committees, and commissions of the legislature for delivery to Hansard for transcription, and the platforms for all virtual meetings of the Legislature.


Legislative Television also provides audio-video production services for Members of the Legislative Assembly and government departments/agencies.

About Our Opportunity


The Administrative Assistant contributes to the delivery of broadcast and recording services by providing essential support working together with a highly technical and creative team in a small office environment. 

Primary Accountabilities


Primary responsibilities include accounts payable/receivable, control of a large inventory of technical equipment via the Archibus System, digital media library/records management, reception duties, preparation of correspondence, maintaining calendars, production of graphics for broadcast, alternate annotation support for recording operations when necessary, and general office related assignments.


The position involves understanding of a broadcast environment as well as interaction with various legislative services staff, government departments/agencies, service delivery providers, and the public.

Qualifications and Experience


Grade XII, completion of an office administration course, plus three years of relevant experience are required.  Accounts payable/receivable experience is also required.  Preference will be given to applicants with inventory control experience and media library/file management in a broadcast environment.  An equivalent combination of training and experience may be acceptable.


The Administrative Assistant should possess excellent organizational skills and the ability to communicate effectively with staff, stakeholders, members of the public and all levels of government.  


Excellent proofreading skills, attention to detail, resourcefulness, and the capacity to work independently are essential requirements.


A creative aptitude and experience with computer graphics software are necessary for the development of diagrams and presentations for both office use and broadcast purposes.    


The candidate should possess demonstrated skills and proficiency in Microsoft 365 particularly with Outlook, Word, Excel, Power Point and Teams; Archibus and internet experience is also required.


Demonstrated experience with Photoshop or Adobe Creative Suite, Visio Pro, and SAP would be considered assets.

Physical Environment

Typically located in a comfortable office environment.


Physical Effort                

Most time spent sitting in a comfortable position.  Some light lifting (approximately 20kgs).


Sensory Attention                       

Requirement to read/interpret written materials such as correspondence, e-mails, research information, need to listen to telephone callers and information/instructions provided by manager and staff.


Mental Pressures                         

Keeping all legislative information updated and posted as soon as it is received. Understanding the legislative process and how the Committees, and Sessions of the Nova Scotia House of Assembly affect Legislative Television schedules and processes.

Pay Grade:  EC 03 

Salary Range:  $1,541.26 - $1,931.02 Bi-Weekly
