About Us

 

The Corporate Policy and Services Branch of the Department of Labour and Advanced Education is the department’s primary link with broader government. The Branch helps ensure the department aligns with and adheres to government policies, priorities, and processes, and in turn supports government decision-making. The Branch is also responsible for coordinating appointments to agencies, boards and commissions. The Branch is composed of three Divisions including: Policy and Planning, Research Accountability and Intergovernmental Affairs, and Organizational Health and Professional Services. The Branch also has responsibility for horizontal youth initiatives. 

 

About Our Opportunity

 

Under the general direction of the Director of Policy and Planning, you will provide comprehensive administrative and office management services for the Director and the division. This includes, but not limited to, prioritizing, coordinating and maintaining up to date schedules, rescheduling as necessary, issuing meeting notices, coordinating meeting space, equipment requirements, and catering. Ensures meeting packages are compiled and presentation materials accurately prepared and readily available according to schedule.

 

You are also responsible for the efficient management and project tracking of correspondence from various stakeholders, both internal and external to the department, for the Office of the Minister and Deputy Minister. As the Administrative Support Clerk, you will be responsible for providing training to departmental staff regarding protocols and required content for ministerial correspondence. In addition to these duties, the Administrative Assistant also leads the Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy process for the department, working closely with the Information Access and Privacy Administrator, to respond to requests.

 

About You

 

This may be the right opportunity for you if you have successfully completed an office administration program with 4 years related experience or the equivalent combination of training and experience.

 

You possess a broad range of knowledge relating to the functions, activities, policies and practices of government offices. You are dedicated to high standards of quality with proven initiative, integrity, judgement, decision making abilities, and communication skills (verbal and written).  You are resourceful, reliable and have a high degree of organizational skills, which are required to determine priorities with minimal supervision in a busy environment.  Essential skills include advanced computer skills using Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Outlook and Excel) and efficient office management practices. A high degree of confidentiality, sensitivity, discretion and judgement are essential.  You must be able to effectively respond to high volumes of work and work independently with minimal supervision.

 

Leadership competencies required at this level of work are: 

Analytical Thinking, Adaptability and Flexibility, Attention to Detail, Client Orientation, Effective Interactive Communication, Initiative, and Intercultural and Diversity Proficiency.

Pay Grade:  EC 05 

 

Salary Range:  $1,535.00 - $1,919.00 Bi-Weekly
