Communications Nova Scotia (CNS) plays an important role in ensuring information about how to access and use these programs is accessible to everyone.  We are seeking an Audio-Visual Technician to help communicate and inform through audio, video and digital platforms.

About Our Opportunity


The Audio-Visual Technician is responsible for audio-visual operations in The Provincial Government’s Media Room. This includes live sound mixing, presentation support, video playback, archive recording, live captioning (ie. CART), support for media (TV cameras and recorders) as well as the overall maintenance of the audio-visual installation.

Primary Accountabilities


This position provides audio-visual consultation and support to government departments for location events. The Audio-Visual Technician also provides production assistance to the CNS Images Services team on location video shoots, photo shoots and live broadcasts.

 

The Audio-Visual technician has a strong understanding of audio mixing, live sound support, audio and video signal flow. They provide advice to the Director regarding maintenance, repair and upgrades of audio-visual hardware and software.  The Audio-Visual Technician is also accountable for on-site technical management of special or emergency events. 

 

Self-motivation and creativity are required to meet client needs, as well as a strong ability to problem-solve and to adapt to ensure all events are completed with high quality and within frequently changing schedules, which may include work outside regular business hours.  The Audio-Visual technician must maintain a high degree of confidentiality and implement appropriately tight security measures when working with sensitive or confidential information.

Qualifications and Experience


1-year course in electronics/audio production + 4 years related experience; or an equivalent combination of training and experience may be acceptable.
 

The successful candidate must have detailed knowledge and skill in the operation of all professional broadcast and audio-visual equipment and a detailed knowledge of audio and video signal flow.
 

You must have experience in providing excellent customer service in a fast-paced environment.

 

We will assess the qualifications and competencies using one or more of the following tools: written examination, standardized tests, oral presentations, interview(s), and reference checks.

An equivalent combination of training, education and experience will be considered. Applicants relying on education and experience equivalencies must demonstrate such equivalencies in their application.

This is a term opportunity with an anticipated end date of December 31, 2021; however, the position status (‘term”, “temporary”, or “casual”) is dependent on the start date of the successful candidate.

Pay Grade:  TE 18 - TE 20  

Salary Range:  $1,739.43 - $2,211.29 Bi-Weekly
