About Our Opportunity
As the Budget Coordinator, Financial Advisory Services, you will be accountable for the coordination of the annual budget and monthly forecast process for the Department of Justice and 10 Public Service Votes, in accordance with the guidelines and deadlines established by Treasury and Policy Board. This includes the effective coordination of the client department's annual budget process; the monthly forecast process; expenditures, recoveries, revenues, FTE control and ongoing financial analysis and advice in accordance with the financial processes and practices of government. As Budget Coordinator, Financial Advisory Services, you will report to the Manager, Financial Advisory Services.
Primary Accountabilities
- Coordinate the annual budget process for client departments in compliance with divisional and departmental targets and deadlines established
- Coordinate the preparation monthly forecast process
- Provide accurate and timely variance report and financial analysis to senior management.
- Coordinate the monthly FTE variance analysis and vacancy report
- Support manager in the preparation of briefing materials and year end process
- Provide direction and support on matters relating to the interpretation of financial policy and generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP)
- Monitor and evaluate financial processes and transactions for compliance with Public Sector Accounting Board (PSAB) and government accounting policies
- Provide financial support and advice to clients through various projects and assignments
- Provide training to Budget Officers and client departments
- Lead and manage the team of Budget Officers
Qualifications and Experience
This may be the right opportunity for you if you have an undergraduate degree in commerce or a related discipline with six years of related experience. An equivalent combination of training and experience may be considered.
Knowledge of the corporate financial management system (SAP) or similar applications would also be considered an asset.
You are detail oriented, decisive, and guided by generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) and PSAB standards while applying an innovative approach to your work. You are proficient in Microsoft Office programs including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint. You have exceptional communication skills (written and verbal) with strong interpersonal and relationship building skills, and are able to develop and maintain contacts with internal and external stakeholders. You possess excellent time management and the ability to prioritize work and resources to meet strict deadlines.

Pay Grade: EC 09
Salary Range: $2,770.21 - $3,462.77 Bi-Weekly
