This is an ideal opportunity for a motivated professional to help protect investors and strengthen Nova Scotia’s capital markets by participating in examination of registrants to ensure compliance with securities laws, contributing to national initiatives, and collaborating with other regulators and self-regulatory organizations.
Primary Accountabilities
The Compliance Examiner reports to the Deputy Director, Registration and Compliance, and is accountable for providing the front line of investor protection in Nova Scotia by:
- Conducting examinations of securities market participants and participating in the oversight review of self-regulatory organizations;
- Participating on national committees created to maintain and update securities regulations related to compliance matters;
- Participating in special projects to address emerging issues and trends that affect investors in Nova Scotia from a compliance perspective; and
- Providing information and recommendations to the Commission regarding policy initiatives.
Qualifications and Experience
This may be the right opportunity for you if you have a bachelor’s degree with a minimum of six (6) years’ experience. An equivalent combination of education, training and experience may be considered. Auditing, securities industry experience, and completion of CSI or equivalent courses (CSC, Branch Managers, CCO Exam or compliance courses) would be considered assets
As the ideal candidate you have previous experience developing, implementing, reviewing, and revising programs. You also have previous experience and an aptitude to deal with complex issues. You demonstrate a high level of initiative and an ability to use tact and diplomacy in difficult situations.
You possess exceptional communication (written and verbal), analytical and problem-solving skills. You are a team player who is comfortable working independently.

Additional Information
This is a TERM employment opportunity with an anticipated end date of June 30, 2027. The appointment status (‘term’, ‘temporary’ or ‘casual’) is dependent on the start date of the successful candidate.

Pay Grade: PR 17
Salary Range: $3,107.16 - $3,649.33 Bi-Weekly
