About Our Opportunity


The Customer Service Representative is often the first contact for Distributed Learning clients.  The CSR communicates with our clients by phone, email, and in person. The CSR primarily supports the Correspondence Program, including supporting student registration, payments, tracking progress and preparing final grade notices.  This important role is the first voice or connection many of our clients will have with the Department.  We are currently changing some aspects of the program making it a very exciting time to join us.

Primary Accountabilities


Main functions will include but are not limited to:  

  • Receive and process registration 
  • Receive, track, process and reconcile billings and payments
  • Create, organize and maintain client files and records; including database entry and creation of user accounts
  • Complete exam application requests and on occasion, provide exam supervision
  • Distribute course materials and generate final grade documentation
  • Communicate with clients, markers and agencies in a positive manner
  • Answer routine questions and inquiries and resolve minor difficulties of clients, markers and agencies

Qualifications and Experience


This could be the right opportunity for you if you have high school 3 years of related customer service experience.  Related experience in a professional environment will be considered.  An equivalent combination of training and experience may be acceptable.

You have strong interpersonal skills and communicate effectively both written and verbal with the upmost tact, diplomacy, and discretion. You build productive relationships with non-governmental and governmental members (both internally and externally) and agencies in an affective and professional manner. 


In addition, you:

  • Proficient using Microsoft Office Suite of software (Word, Excel, Outlook, Power-Point).
  • Excellent keyboarding skills with a high degree of accuracy.  
  • Knowledge and/or experience with accounting software program (eg. Simply Accounting)


The following are considered assets for this position:  

  • Completion of a business or commercial course
  • Knowledge of Nova Scotia’s education system 
  • Fluency in French and/or Arabic
  • Experience with document scanning and electronic record management system 


We will assess the above qualifications and competencies using one or more of the following tools: written examination, standardized tests, oral presentations, interview(s), and reference checks.

This is a term employment opportunity with an anticipated end date of Jan 4, 2022. The appointment status (‘term’, ‘temporary’ or ‘casual’) is dependent on the start date of the successful candidate.

Pay Grade:  CL 13  

Salary Range:  $1,407.60 - $1,532.16 Bi-Weekly
