About Our Opportunity


Under general supervision of the Manager of Facilities & Support Services, the Clerk functions as the initial contact point within the Department's Head Office, including the Office of the Minister and Deputy Minister. 

Primary Accountabilities


This position, which requires a high standard of customer service, is informed on all departmental programs, services, and staff responsibilities to efficiently screen, direct and respond to telephone inquires, visitor requests and e-mail communication. 

 

You will also coordinate the receipt and dispatch of materials from the reception area; process incoming and outgoing mail, receive and maintain bookings for boardrooms, and control security cards for visitors.

 

This position also provides administrative support to the Information Services Division.

Qualifications and Experience


This may be the right opportunity for you if you have three years related experience or equivalent combination of training and experience. 

 

As the ideal candidate you demonstrate the ability to work independently in a busy and challenging environment, along with the ability to exercise tack and diplomacy when dealing with various stakeholders internal/external to your organization.

 

You have well developed interpersonal and communication skills (written and verbal) as well as an understanding of and commitment to customer service.  You have proficient skills in the use of a variety of Microsoft programs such as Word, Excel, Outlook or equivalent.

 

A working knowledge of the records management principles and familiarity with the Nova Scotia Governments classification system STAR/STOR would be considered an asset.

Please note this is a term opportunity with an anticipated end date of November 5, 2021; however, the position status (“term”, “temporary” or “casual”) is dependent on the start date of the successful candidate.

Pay Grade:  CL 13  

Salary Range:  $1,400.60 - $1,524.54 Bi-Weekly
