About Our Opportunity

 

As the Financial Analyst (Financial Services Officer 2), you conduct accurate, timely, and in-depth financial reconciliations and reporting. You also provide expert business process advice, options and recommendations to provincial government departments and agencies. In this position, you research and monitor the processing of integrated vital financial data (salary, expenditure & balance sheet) flow to the Business Warehouse Module which is critical to budgetary reporting and management decisions. You also support the operations of complex financial systems, maintenance of general ledger and cost centre master data, maintenance of specialized accounting records and reporting to the Canada Revenue Agency.

 

Primary Accountabilities

 

The successful candidate:

 

  • Independently analyzes, monitors, and reconciles all salaries and expenditures posted daily for government-wide departments and agencies to government-wide staff on correct policies and business processes concerning recording of salary and expenditures, and financial systems reconciliations.
  • Performs monitoring, assessment, and in-depth analysis of T4A, AGR1, and T4E coding to ensure compliance with provincial policies and procedures as well as Canada Revenue Agency rules and regulations.
  • Maintains the provincial general ledger and cost centre master records involving creating, modifying, and blocking accounts.
  • Assists departments in the proper use of general ledger accounts for accurate posting of transactions and to meet the needs of the Supplement to the Public Accounts.
  • Advises departments of corrective action required to balance financial modules under tight time pressures.
  • Conducts research, analysis and production of miscellaneous reports in response to department inquiries, audit queries and special projects.
  • Provides ad hoc financial analysis and reporting of activities to ensure information is accurate, current, and consistently reported government-wide.

 

Qualifications and Experience

 

To be successful in this position, you have three (3) years of post-secondary professional accounting training, plus five (5) years of related experience. An equivalent combination of education, training, and/or experience may be considered.

 

You are knowledgeable of financial policies and procedures and have an excellent understanding of the demands and requirements of a large and diverse group of clients. You are also effective at managing multiple priorities and are a team player with strong interpersonal and communication skills. You also exercise sound judgment and apply critical thinking while maintaining confidentiality of sensitive information. Furthermore, you possess ERP experience/knowledge; and are proficient in Microsoft Excel.

 

The following would be viewed as assets: knowledge of Business Warehouse, knowledge and/or experience with taxable benefits, experience with SAP, and Microsoft Office including Excel, Word, Outlook, and Access.

Additional Information

 

This competition will be used to fill one (1) permenant position and one (1) term position status position up to approximately 12 months; however, the position status (“term”, “temporary” or “casual”) is dependent on the start date of the successful candidate.

Pay Grade:  TE 22  

Salary Range:  $2,052.93 - $2,414.26 Bi-Weekly
