As a Financial Audit Co-op Student, you’ll join a small, collaborative office where students are actively involved in audit work and supported through hands-on learning and mentoring. This role offers early exposure to public sector auditing and helps you build a strong foundation for future professional studies and career decisions. You will:
- Assist with audit planning, fieldwork, and documentation
- Test and evaluate internal controls and transactions
- Perform basic data analysis and review business processes
- Support audit teams in assessing compliance with legislation and policies
- Work collaboratively as part of an audit team in a professional environment
Some travel within Nova Scotia may be required.
What We’re Looking For
You’re curious, detail-oriented, and eager to apply what you’re learning in your accounting courses. You’re interested in understanding how accounting concepts are used in practice and how audits contribute to good governance.
You bring:
- A strong academic record and interest in pursuing a CPA designation
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- The ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines
- A willingness to ask questions, learn, and accept feedback
Qualifications:
- Enrolled in a post-secondary degree program with a major in accounting (3rd or 4th year)
- Returning to school for at least one academic term following the work term
- Progress toward completion of prerequisites for future entry into the Canadian CPA Professional Education Program (CPA PEP)
- Proficiency in MS Excel.
