About Our Opportunity

 

As part of the Partnerships and Policy team, reporting to the Program Administrator, your role involves building and maintaining partnerships with geomatics teams across government.  You lead projects and initiatives that advance the use of geomatics, and you contribute to the development of policies, standards, and processes.

Primary Accountabilities

 

  • Continuous Learning – Maintain relevant knowledge of geomatics and stay abreast of trends through research, training courses, meetings, and seminars.
  • Effective Information Sharing and Collaboration - Stay informed about trends and relevant announcements in the geomatics industry to identify, draft, and distribute communications through SharePoint, email, and partner engagement.
  • Collaboration Support- Facilitate or support facilitation of meetings, communications, and collaboration between project teams and partners across government.
  • Client Engagement - Act as a liaison for clients and stakeholders, including developing awareness of programs and services offered by GeoNOVA and identifying new opportunities or areas for improvement.
  • Project Support - Provide support on geomatics projects including the drafting and review of project documentation including project concepts, and business and functional requirements.
  • Conference Planning - Work as a key member of the team to plan and host two annual conferences for the geomatics community.
  • Operational Maintenance- Support the maintenance and good operation of the government geomatics infrastructure through documentation, client support, and identifying areas for improvement in processes and standards.
  • Educational Partnership: Work collaboratively with private companies to plan and deliver geomatics training for geomatics users in Government of Nova Scotia.

Qualifications and Experience


To be considered for this opportunity, you must hold the following minimum education/work experiences: Bachelor’s degree in a relevant Geomatics field plus five (5) years related experience or -Graduated from an approved technical school in the field of geomatics in addition to eight (8) years related experience.

 

An equivalent combination of training and experience may be considered.

 

In addition, the following are required skills/knowledge:

-In-depth knowledge of Geographic Information Systems (GIS), including products, technology, and related principals.

-Strong presentation and communication skills (auditory, verbal and written). This is critical to articulate and relay complex problems and technical information to a wide range of technical and non-technical audiences.

-Demonstrated experience with and a proven track record in effectively engaging and building partnerships with multi-disciplinary stakeholders.

-Experience with business analysis including analyzing and defining business problems and requirements.

-Strong time management and organization skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities within tight timeframes.

-The ability to work cohesively in a team and independently.

-The ability to forge strong relationships of trust and collaboration across all levels of governments.

 

The following are considered assets:

-Knowledge of organizational structure of geomatics teams in the Government of Nova Scotia.

-Experience with project management and or business analysis.

-Experience with Microsoft 365 suite such as SharePoint, PowerPoint, Teams, Visio, Planner, Power Automate, Lists, Outlook, Word and Excel.

Working Conditions

 

Normal work week is 35 hours/week, 7 hours/day.

 

This position qualifies for Flexible Work Arrangement (FAW) working hours, including earned days off.

 

Time is spent in an office setting with flexible working from home arrangements.

Pay Grade:  PR 13  

Salary Range:  $2,556.10 - $3,107.16 Bi-Weekly
