About Our Opportunity


Under the leadership of the Manager of the LaMPSS Business Support Unit, you are responsible to support business areas using the Labour Market Program Support System (LaMPSS).  This will involve developing relationships and working collaboratively with staff, mangers, and stakeholders of the Department of Labour, Skills and Immigration (LSI). Skills and Learning Branch, the Nova Scotia Office of Immigration and Population Growth (NSIPG), the Department of Advanced Education (DAE) Private Career Colleges Division and the Department of Community Services (DCS) Employment Support Services and Disability Support Program Divisions.

This position reports to Manager, LaMPSS Business Support Unit.

 

Primary Accountabilities


As the Consultant: 
 

  • You will proactively support business areas to ensure they achieve maximum benefits and efficiency from the system, while helping them adapt to the LaMPSS model of a common system and business processes.
  • You will lead onboarding of new business areas, user, and programs.
  • You will also work to ensure that learning needs of all LaMPSS user groups are met through the development and maintenance of learning materials.
  • You will participate in and often lead various projects in collaboration with the LaMPSS Operational Support and IT teams as well as subject matter experts.
  • You are responsible for creation and maintenance of deliverables, including communication plans, change management plans, training curriculums, business processes, implementation plans and other resources to support service delivery.
     

Qualifications and Experience


To be successful you have a university degree, with a minimum of 5 years’ related experience or equivalent combination of training and experience may be considered.  You also must have strong interpersonal skills and experience working with diverse groups of stakeholders.
 
You also demonstrate the following:

  • Exceptional communication skills – both written and verbal with the ability to move forward with common goals or visions on behalf of the department
  • Excellent analytical skills and experience solving complex problems
  • Demonstrated facilitation skills working with groups of all sizes
  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities and concurrent projects
  • Experience developing and delivering training
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office (e.g., PowerPoint, Excel, Word, Outlook, Visio)
  • Ability to work independently, with minimal supervision, and as part of a team

 
Any of the following experience or credentials would be considered an asset:

  • Knowledge of LaMPSS functionality
  • Experience with or certification in change management methodologies
  • Experience with or certification in project management techniques
  • Knowledge of labour market programming in Nova Scotia

 
We will assess the above qualifications and competencies using one or more of the following tools: written examination, standardized tests, oral presentation, interview(s), and reference checks.

Pay Grade:  PR 13  

Salary Range:  $2,556.10 - $3,107.16 Bi-Weekly
