About Our Opportunity

The Manager of Facilities & Corporate Services is accountable for the facilitation of the acquisition of leased office space for multiple regional office sites across the province for Service Nova Scotia and Internal Services enabling the delivery of services to internal clients, the general public and the business communities of Nova Scotia.


In this role you are also the primary advisor on corporate facilities matters and you are responsible for the timely, innovative and cost-effective delivery of services like optimizing space utilization, process improvements and enhancing procedures for facility management and maintaining security protocols for the offices around the province of Service Nova Scotia & Internal Services.

Primary Accountabilities

  • Providing lean and agile process improvements to positively impact space utilization that may require consultation with and facilitation of high-level collaborations among stakeholders and service providers, 
  • Working collaboratively with internal and external partners to identify opportunities for improving accommodations through effective facility and space planning for Head Office, regional offices and sites where client facing services are offered, ensuring the safety and security of staff and providing up to date solutions for office-based services. 
  • Managing and overseeing multiple concurrent renovation projects required to adapt existing leased or owned space to meet the evolving operational needs of the Department. 
  • Planning, maintenance and managing of new fit outs/refurbishments; preventative maintenance or upgrade of equipment; industrial hygiene, including indoor air quality and control of Substances Hazardous to Health. 
  • Managing responsibilities related to all buildings and spaces occupied by Service Nova Scotia & Internal Services, across the province by developing and maintain listings of all leases for buildings and equipment and serves as the main point of contact for each location. 
  • Leading an effective team who ensure the provision of multiple functions that support the smooth operation of the Department through the management and administration of building access, an integrated security system and procurement of furniture and systems from the standing offer. 
  • Creating and implementing policies and procedures (facility, safety, security), research, analysis, and advice to senior management on relevant issues around the department’s business continuity management and the use of facilities and fraud policies as it relates to the processes 
  • Leading divisional financial planning including monitoring of expenditures and preparation of monthly forecast reports to Senior Management Team and the CSU-Finance for the facilities. 
  • Managing Procurement and Asset Management for the entire entity and department inventories of physical assets, including acquisition, location and disposal in accordance with central agency legislative, regulatory and policy requirements. 
  • Availability of the Manager, or their designate, 24/7 to respond to security breaches, power outages, flooding etc. in any SNS-IS location. This requires interaction with senior staff across Government to ensure continued safe operation of the Government in times of crisis.
  • Ensuring the effective management of human and financial resources by setting and evaluating staff performance targets, promoting diversity and a healthy workplace, demonstrating the leadership competencies, respecting corporate human resources practices, promoting teamwork and individual development, maintaining internal communication, monitoring revenues and expenditures, adhering to procurement guidelines, acquiring goods and services in the most cost-effective manner.

Qualifications and Experience

As the ideal candidate, you are a seasoned facilities management professional, with several years’ experience in building management; an equivalent combination of experience and education will be considered. A diploma, certificate, or red seal certification in a related field is an asset.


Frequent travel across the province is a requirement of this position; as such, a valid driver’s license with a clean driving record is required.


As the ideal candidate, you have:

  • superior communication skills.
  • experience in health & safety management (OSH & Wellness)
  • procurement and management of external contracts

Pay Grade:  EC 10 

Salary Range:  $2,783.77 - $3,487.73 Bi-Weekly
