Our Story


The Office of Workplace Mental Health is a government partnership between the Public Service Commission, Nova Scotia Government & General Employees Union (NSGEU), CUPE 1867 and the Nova Scotia Public Service Long Term Disability Plan Trust Fund. The office has 9 staff across the province who help employees find mental health and wellness resources and services.


The Office of Workplace Mental Health helps government employees and managers leverage culturally responsive find resources, tools and supports to help their mental health and wellbeing. We work to develop partnerships with mental health service providers throughout the province. We also help managers support mental health and wellness by providing education and resources.


Our Opportunity


The Manager Project Management is responsible for the delivery of project management at a strategic level within the unit and horizontal delivery across stakeholder groups. The Manager assigns and provides direction to a team of project supports and establishes how and when the unit will deliver on projects that impact internal and external stakeholders.


Primary Accountabilities

  • Developing and/or delivering a plan for project management by managing a team.
  • Mentoring, coaching, and monitoring a team to facilitate project objectives and communication.
  • Identifying shortcomings, suggesting improvements, and implementing approved revisions to current compliance processes, systems, and procedures for project management function.
  • Developing and/or delivering budget plans for division with some guidance from senior leadership.
  • Delivering prescribed outcomes for a designated area of financial control by working within established systems.
  • Managing relationships with strategic internal customers and act as their business partner, while typically using large support teams to ensure their satisfaction.
  • Developing, defining, and maintaining the standards, processes, and tools with guidance from senior colleagues.
  • Developing and/or delivering elements of a strategic planning system with guidance from senior leadership.
  • Ensuring the effective management of human and financial resources by setting and evaluating staff performance targets, promoting equity, diversity, inclusion and a healthy workplace.

You have a demonstrated ability and passion for coaching, supporting and engaging staff at all levels in the execution of the common strategy and vision for the organization.


You bring post-secondary experience in Project Management, Business/Commerce with experience having lead projects and project teams in the delivery of outcomes to Senior Management.


You have experience with stakeholder relations, collaborating with government and community entities, and are proficient in outreach strategies.


Understanding of and commitment to employing anti oppressive, anti racist, trauma informed, intersectional approaches to inform project design evaluation and communications.


Awareness of the impact of systemic marginalization and health inequities.


Leadership competencies required at this level of work are:  Decisiveness, Strategic Orientation, Developing Others, Team Leadership, Self-Awareness and Personal Impact, Effective Interactive Communication, Partnering and Relationship Building, and Intercultural and Diversity Proficiency.


We will assess the above qualifications and competencies using one or more of the following tools: written examination, standardized tests, oral presentations, interview(s), and reference checks.



Equivalencies considered include, but are not limited to, at least 4 years previous experience in managing projects or project teams.


An equivalent combination of training, education and experience will be considered. Applicants relying on education and experience equivalencies must demonstrate such equivalencies in their application.

Working Conditions


  • Normal work week is 35 hours/week, 7 hours/day.
  • May be required to work overtime on occasion.
  • Majority of time is spent in an office setting with flexible working from home arrangements.
  • Some flexibility may be available for work location.

Pay Grade:  EC 12 

Salary Range:  $3,368.38 - $4,220.16 Bi-Weekly
