Duties


The Manager of Legislative Television is responsible for the effective planning and delivery of all broadcasts, recording, management and production aspects of Legislative Television ensuring the broadcasts meet legislated requirements. The Manager leads all staff involved in the broadcast, recording, and distribution of the Nova Scotia House of Assembly proceedings, including legislative business, standing committees, select committees and commissions of the legislature and press events to the public, media facilities, Hansard, and other government offices.

 

The Manager advises the Speaker, Chief Clerk and Members of the Legislative Assembly regarding technical operations and represents the Speaker by directing audio-video production services for public events involving internal and external stakeholders at all levels, in keeping with protocol, confidentiality requirements, parliamentary rules and decorum. The Manager acts as a consultant for House of Assembly staff and officials, government departments, agencies, media representatives and clients by providing technical expertise, event planning skills, production management, audio-video systems design, training, equipment evaluation and recommendations, project assistance and audio-video support for news conferences, bill briefings, ceremonies, receptions, meetings, public hearings and international conferences.

 

The Manager is responsible for the preservation of legislative proceedings by protecting original audio-video tape, CD and DVD recordings and monitoring digital conversion for archival purposes.

Applicants relying on education and experience equivalencies must demonstrate such equivalencies in their application.

Qualifications and Experience


Candidates must have comprehensive experience (10+ years) in audio-video recording and television broadcast operations. Candidates also require knowledge of web streaming techniques, computer technology, systems and software applications to provide technical guidance related to AV production, broadcast content and the performance of office duties. The candidate must have experience in the effective management of human and financial resources.


The successful candidate must be non-partisan and have superior management skills and techniques (e.g. planning, organizing, integrating, directing, and controlling) and the ability to apply them; excellent leadership skills, exceptional interpersonal abilities, judgement, tact and diplomacy.


Experience working in a parliamentary or legislative environment with an understanding of its rules, practices and protocols would be an asset.

Pay Grade:  EC 10 

Salary Range:  $3,047.22 - $3,809.04 Bi-Weekly
