About Our Opportunity


As the Network Architect (Computer Services Officer 4) you will provide technical leadership to the network support team. You will have overall responsibility for the design, development and implementation of mission critical networking projects.


Being one of the network architects, you will lead the support team to:


  • Analyse, clarify and transfer business requirements into technical requirements.
  • Architect and implement network solutions based on the Government’s technology, security and architecture standards.
  • Configure and troubleshoot EIGRP, MPLS, BGP, OSPF, etc.
  • Configure layer 2 and 3 protocols, including, TCP/IP, Spanning Tree, VLAN, QOS, etc.
  • Work on different networking technologies (DNS, DHCP, SMTP, LDAP, SMB, SSH, VPN, NAT, IPSec, VoIP, etc.).
  • Work with IT vendors on networking orders.
  • Lead/manage networking projects from start to end.
  • Having hands on experience with Cisco DNA and SDN is a plus.
  • Work with other IT groups to meet their technical needs.
  • Solve problems and issues reported by business clients.
  • Set priorities in cooperation with the manager.
  • Meet project deadlines.
  • Coach, mentor and develop staff.
  • Other duties as required.


About You


You have a bachelor’s degree in Computer Science plus 5 years of related experience in the network architecture, or graduation from a recognized Information Technology Program plus 5 years of related experience in the network architecture. An equivalent combination of training and experience will be considered. Must have at least a CCNP certification, CCIE is preferred.


Ideally, you must have a proven record and ability to develop, maintain, and support a complex network infrastructure. You will be flexible and adaptable to ever changing priorities and legacy and new technologies.  You would be extensively knowledgeable and highly skilled in Cisco (LAN, WAN, WLAN and Cisco ISE), and Knowledgeable in layer 2 and 3 protocols including; TCP/IP, Spanning Tree, VLAN, OSPF, and BGP, Cisco Nexus etc. Your knowledge and experience with the following will be considered definite assets: Meraki systems, Cisco SDN, Wavelength fiber and Firewalls.


You must demonstrate a high degree of logical problem-solving ability with well-developed oral and written communication skills. You would have extensive experience in Project Management and Change Management and working on ticketing systems. You must also demonstrate that you can lead and contribute to an IT support team by working on multiple tasks at the same time and work well with people.

Working Conditions


Please note: as variable and rotational shift work is needed for this position, the successful candidate will have flexibility with scheduling.


Additional Information


There will be a technical test that the candidates must pass in order to get an interview.


Please note, this is expected to be a Term status position with an end date of June 30, 2023; however, the position status (“term”, “temporary” or “casual”) is dependent on the start date of the successful candidate.

Pay Grade:  PR 17  

Salary Range:  $2,913.59 - $3,421.98 Bi-Weekly
