The Office of Equity and Anti-Racism (OEA) works across government with partners and communities to help lead and support government’s anti-racism initiatives and promote equity. About Our Opportunity

 

The Policy and Engagement Coordinator is responsible for the coordination of projects and activities related to OEA’s policy and engagement activities. The Coordinator will work on a variety of specialized and complex policy and engagement projects to advance equity and anti-racism initiatives in Nova Scotia including those related to the requirements of the Dismantling Racism and Hate Act and Nova Scotia’s Equity and Anti-Racism Strategy.

 

This position reports to the Director, Policy and Planning.  

Primary Accountabilities

 

As the successful candidate, you will be responsible for ensuring that engagement for OEA is coordinated in a thoughtful and meaningful way and that all the work of this unit, including policy and engagement, is centered around underrepresented and underserved communities. The Coordinator will support both the Policy and Engagement teams by providing policy and program analysis and support, research, promotion, assessment and monitoring of tasks related to policy and engagement.

 

Some duties include:

  • Supporting the development of engagement plans, developing engagement materials and coordinating logistical arrangements for engagements.
  • Conducting analysis on input from engagements to inform policy options to be considered. This includes supporting Senior Policy Analysts in developing policy options for senior management approval.
  • Conducting research and preparing summary briefing reports on emerging policy and engagement issues and initiatives.
  • Supporting project management in the office by reviewing project documentation to ensure all deliverables required are present, complete and appropriately archived.
  • Coordinating and preparing documentation, meeting minutes, communications and reports for approval while following up on pending issues.

Qualifications and Experience

 

You are a consummate professional with a will have a Bachelors’ Degree in a related discipline, involving coordination, project management, policy, research methods etc. Along with being a team player, you are also an independent self-starter who takes initiative and is adept at rallying and organizing other. You possess exceptional time and project management skills and are an expert at managing multiple priorities and deadlines. You have superb attention to detail and organizing skills. You are an excellent communicator, verbally and in writing.  You have a strong grasp of technology with intermediate to advanced level skills in MS Office 365 (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Teams (teleconferencing tool).You easily adapt to learning new web-based enterprise applications and can efficiently setup computer equipment and accessories, when required.

 

Leadership competencies required at this level of work are: Analytical Thinking, Adaptability and Flexibility, Attention to Detail, Outcome Focus, Effective Interactive Communication, Teamwork and Collaboration, and Intercultural and Diversity Proficiency.

 

We will assess the above qualifications and competencies using one or more of the following tools: written examination, standardized tests, oral presentations, interview(s), and reference checks.

Pay Grade:  EC 07 

Salary Range:  $2,289.42 - $2,861.78 Bi-Weekly
