Do you have a strong background in sport and recreation?  Is improving the quality of sport for Nova Scotians a passion of yours?  If yes, this opportunity is for you.  

 

Our Consultant plays an integral role in the enhancement and sustainability of quality sport within Nova Scotia.  You are responsible for developing, implementing and evaluating policies and programs.  We rely on your advice and expertise when it comes to making decisions surrounding the above.  Your partnerships with community, provincial and national organizations to share best practices and keep well-informed on emerging trends is vital to our success.

 

Your solid consultation skills are paramount when providing advice to Provincial Sport Organizations in areas such as Participation, Performance, Coaching, Officiating, and Organization Effectiveness. You work hard to assist organizations’ requiring improvement while ensuring they meet the requirements for provincial funding.

 

You are always collaborating with key stakeholders and organizations to reduce and/or remove sport participation barriers. 

About You

 

To be successful in this role, you will have a bachelor’s degree plus 6 years of related experience or an acceptable equivalent combination of education and relevant work experience. 

 

You are knowledgeable of provincial, national, and international trends in sport. Experience working within the Canadian sport and recreation system in a leadership role is a must. Proven ability to formulate strategic direction, develop implementation plans, budget and allocate financial resources, and evaluate progress is key. 

 

You possess strong presentation, facilitation, and communication skills (verbal and written). Demonstrated ability to form strategic relationships and build credibility with others are your strengths.  You are also creative, outcome focused and strive for innovation. 

 

You’ll use technology and online applications to capture, manage and share information.

 

We will assess the above qualifications and competencies using one or more of the following tools: written examination, standardized tests, oral presentations, interview(s), and reference checks.

Please note, this is expected to be a term status position with an end date of August 31, 2020; however the position status (“term”, “temporary” or “casual”)  is dependent on the start date of the successful candidate.

 

 

Pay Grade:  PR 17  

 

Salary Range:  $2,842.04 - $3,337.95 Bi-Weekly

 

This is a bargaining unit position initially restricted to current civil service employees represented by the Nova Scotia Government Employees Union (NSGEU).
