About Our Opportunity

 

As the Program Compliance Officer, you will report to the Manager, Investigations & Compliance at Immigration and Population Growth Branch. The Officer is a critical role in the office to ensure the long-term success of immigration programs and service delivery.  

 

The Officer is responsible for ensuring immigration program participants are compliant with the requirements set out under the various streams administered by the office, by 1) providing information and guidance to employers and candidates, 2) conducting compliance work to ensure program requirements are being met, 3) conducting workplace inspections, and 4) making recommendations in the context of compliance within immigration selection programs. 

Primary Accountabilities

 

  • Conduct compliance verification activities including site visits to businesses in relation to program case files. 
  • Draft compliance verification reports, in a timely manner, as deliverables for each inspection. Provide those reports, which include recommendations, to the Manager of Investigations & Compliance. 
  • Conduct effective records management related to all compliance activities. The Officer records management must be done in alignment with government records standards and applicable legislation. 
  • Support the Manager in the review of program records to appropriately prioritize compliance activities. This includes monitoring program participants. 
  • Work closely with Program Officers who support all immigration programs administered by the Immigration & Population Growth. 
  • Work with program participant employers and employees to provide education and guidance on appropriately participating in Immigration & Population Growth programs. 
  • Provides coaching/job shadowing to new officers or officers with less experience with a program area. 
  • The Officer will conduct other operational duties, as required, within the Investigations & Compliance unit. 

Qualifications and Experience

 

To be successful in this role, you will hold a post-secondary education in a related discipline such as, but not limited to, public administration, business, international development, social sciences, or law and five (5) years of related experience. 

 

You must also demonstrate:  

  • Proven ability to administer programs that may include working with a range of partners, including other levels of government and the private sector or members of the public 
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and a proven ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing 
  • An ability to multi-task and handle and organizer large workloads and the ability to prepare and execute plans and adapt as needed 
  • An aptitude to deal with complex issues, strong analytical skills, tact and diplomacy, capacity for decisive action, and the ability to influence 
  • Must be self-motivated and demonstrate significant intuitive and the ability to work independently 
  • The ability to maintain and remain clam in a hostile or adversarial environment 
  • The ability to work as part of a team 
  • The ability to see the big picture 

 

Experience conducting regulatory inspections or compliance work, or strong working knowledge of immigration legislation, programs, policies, and stakeholders is desirable. 

 

We will assess the above qualifications and competencies using one or more of the following tools: written examination, standardized tests, oral presentations, interview(s), scenarios, and reference checks.

Working Conditions

  

  • Normal work week is 35 hours/week, 7 hours/day
  • May be required to work overtime on occasion 

  • Travel throughout the province to conduct site visits at a variety of businesses will be required

Pay Grade:  PR 13  

Salary Range:  $2,469.30 - $3,001.65 Bi-Weekly
