The King’s Printer is a section within the Government Services Branch of the Department of Service Nova Scotia and Internal Services and is responsible for:

  • Overseeing the production, procurement, and distribution of government documents.
  • Procuring promotional and specialized printing from external suppliers.
  • Working closely with Procurement Office to consider sustainable procurement practices, best value, when purchasing speciality products, business forms, books, and security printing.
  • Providing timely, cost-effective, and high-quality printing, specialty products, and postal services for all Government of Nova Scotia departments, as well as some key entities within the municipal, academic institutions, schools, and hospitals (MASH) sectors.


About Our Opportunity


Reporting to the Manager, King’s Printer, the Project Coordinator (PAO 1-2) will be responsible for the coordination/administration of programs/project processes and/or activities within the section that require innovative approaches, that have an impact on multiple functions and/or overall business results within the division or department. Duties may include promotion, process development, assessment, monitoring, promoting, and/or provision of information related to project management.


The Project Coordinator will also manage, track, and attend to multiple pieces of information, bringing order and clarity. Monitors others working, checking to ensure that procedures are followed.

Primary Accountabilities


  • Delivers required outcomes by working within an established project management plan. 
  • Assists in managing projects and initiatives based on portfolio needs, including managing the agenda, planning, research, budget management, implementation, control, resource scheduling and organization of a broad range of activities involving some uncertainty requiring the formulation and adjustment of approach or procedures.
  • Assists senior colleague(s) manage internal and external client, vendor, and contractor relationships by using client systems and other established project management processes, procedures, and protocols. Assists in the preparation, evaluation, and award of tenders for the acquisition of new equipment, software and/or professional services through liaison with vendors and/or contractors.
  • Performs prescribed contract management activities by following existing procedures to support others.
  • Coordinates and prepares documentation, meeting minutes, communications, agendas, and reports for approval, while following up on pending issues. Participates in meetings and assists in stakeholder management.
  • Produces accurate reports for others by collecting data from a variety of sources and inputting that data into standard formats. Supports and enables others to use and benefit from existing data management systems.
  • Reviews project documentation to ensure all deliverables required, as per policies and standards, are present, complete, and archived appropriately. Tracks and reports status of projects and portfolios. Coordinating and preparing project performance reporting to help senior management determine which projects proceed and/or are undertaken.
  • May develop training plans, coordinates meeting rooms and travel, and leads workshops.

Qualifications and Experience


As the successful candidate, you will have a bachelors degree plus one (1) year of related experience in the printing industry; or an equivalent may be acceptable.

  • Continuous Improvement implementation


You also have the following skills or work experience:

  • Firm understanding of current printing technologies 
  • Must be able to work calmly and effectively under stress.
  • Ability to adapt rapidly to changing circumstances and environments.
  • Advanced demonstrable time management and organizational skills.
  • Excellent skills with the Microsoft Office Suite 
  • Ability to manage and coordinate meetings with both stakeholders and vendor industry (In-person and virtually).


The following would be considered assets:


  • Knowledge and experience in government organizations and operating practices
  • Experience working in a government print environment 
  • Experience with SAP

Pay Grade:  PR 06 - PR 10  

Salary Range:  $1,859.58 - $2,666.69 Bi-Weekly
