About Us

 

At the Safety Branch of the Department of Labour and Advanced Education, we are responsible for delivering effective and efficient regulatory management for the protection of the public and workers’ safety through education, outreach, inspection and enforcement, equipment registration, permits, and licenses.  Our staff of over 115 employees, located throughout Nova Scotia, do this by using the Pathways to Compliance to enhance compliance of provincially regulated employees, employees and contractors through setting, promoting, verifying and enforcing requirements under various pieces of legislation.

 

We currently have an exciting opportunity for you to explore as a Project Manager. 

 

About Our Opportunity

 

As the Project Manager, you will be accountable for a number of projects on a strategic level within the Safety Branch and horizontal delivery between Branch divisions.  You will also provide support to the senior leadership team in key transformational programs to help teams drive to completion and adapt quickly while shifting the culture of work.

 

You will identify, define, and manage overall projects that impact multiple internal and external stakeholders. You will also be responsible for consultation, promotion, budgeting, contract management, communications, and/or development of the overall project and project plans.  

 

As the Project Manager, you will report to the Senior Executive Director. 

 

About You

 

This may be the right opportunity for you if you have a bachelor’s degree with 6 years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of training and experience.

 

You have previous experience in organizational change management, engaging others, getting buy in to deliver results, and skillfully influencing others to build support.  You have an ability to see patterns and trends, bringing facts and ideas together to develop innovative and creative insights. You are comfortable working independently with minimal supervision.  

 

You possess exceptional communication (written and verbal), interpersonal and relationship building skills with previous experience assessing, measuring and improving performance, and adapting priorities based on risk. You also have experience understanding and identifying long-term business strategies and aligning your thinking and planning accordingly.

 

Leadership competencies required at this level of work are: 

Conceptual Thinking, Strategic Orientation, Outcome Focus, Initiative, Effective Interactive Communication, Partnering and Relationship Building, and Intercultural and Diversity Proficiency.

 

We will assess the above qualifications and competencies using one or more of the following tools: written examination, standardized tests, oral presentations, interview(s), and reference checks.

This is a term position with an anticipated end date of February  26, 2021.

 

 

Pay Grade:  EC 11 

 

Salary Range:  $2,652.00 - $3,315.00 Bi-Weekly
