About Our Opportunity


As the Revenue Policy Officer you will be accountable to support the administration of provincially legislated tax programs.


You will develop, document and maintain tax credit processing procedures; interact with tax credit applicants on a daily basis; maintain and operate large databases; be responsible for administration and oversight of Nova Scotia’s tax credit programs and provincial tax measures; provide background and analysis on tax credit-related issues; and assist with tax credit administrative and policy reviews.


You will also produce analysis, reports, briefings, and recommendations for policy, process improvements, and presentations to support senior Department officials on decision making.
 

As the Revenue Policy Officer, you will report to a Policy Strategist.

About You

 

This may be the right opportunity for you if you have a University degree from a related discipline (e.g. Economics, Finance, Business Administration) or an acceptable equivalent combination of training and experience may be considered.
 

You have demonstrated computer skills for data organization, numerical analysis and report generation. You exercise sound judgement and can establish, assess and execute on priorities. You are a professional team player with demonstrated ability to work independently. You possess strong interpersonal, communication (written and verbal) and time management skills, can meet tight deadlines in high pressure scenarios, and communicate information in a clear and concise manner. You also possess effective presentation skills.
 

While not required, it is considered an asset if:

 

  • You are familiar with issues related to Nova Scotia’s economic environment, government budgets, accounting and Nova Scotia’s taxation system.
  • You have a working knowledge of data analysis and reporting.
  • You have experience deal with clients in navigating complex situations.

 

Leadership competencies required at this level of work are: Conceptual Thinking, Strategic Orientation, Outcome Focus, Initiative, Effective Interactive Communication, Partnering and Relationship Building, and Intercultural and Diversity Proficiency.
 

We will assess the above qualifications and competencies using one or more of the following tools: written examination, standardized tests, oral presentations, interview(s), and reference checks.Q

Working Conditions

 

Normal work week is 35 hours/week, 7 hours/day.

 

May be required to work overtime on occasion.

This is a TERM employment opportunity with an anticipated end date of September 30, 2025. The appointment status (‘term’, ‘temporary’ or ‘casual’) is dependent on the start date of the successful candidate.

Pay Grade:  EC 09 

Salary Range:  $2,518.36 - $3,462.77 Bi-Weekly
