About Our Opportunity

 

We are currently seeking qualified candidates to fill a Senior Audit Officer position on our Financial Audit Team. This position directly reports to an Audit Principal on the Financial Audit Team.

Primary Accountabilities

 

As a Senior Audit Officer, you are responsible for the planning, fieldwork and reporting of financial statement audits and other assurance engagements in accordance with professional standards/guidance and Office methodology. This may include but is not limited to drafting engagement letters; conducting risk analyses; directing or completing audit fieldwork; documenting and evaluating the overall control environment; ensuring all audit findings, exceptions and proposed adjustments in working papers are adequately documented; etc. You will also assist in the training and development of our junior staff through direct supervision by acting as a coach or mentor. Limited travel within Nova Scotia may be required.

Qualifications and Experience

 

  • Canadian Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) designation.
  • Recent related experience in financial statement audits, including responsibility for planning, conducting and reporting audit/assessment activities.
  • Current knowledge of Canadian Auditing Standards (CAS) and Canadian Public Sector Accounting Standards (PSAS). 
  • Solid time management skills to ensure engagements are completed within budget and time constraints.
  • Strong analytical and written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to develop and manage effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Highly proficient in use of MS Office Suite, knowledge of SAP and CAAT software would be considered an asset.

Pay Grade:  EC 15 

Salary Range:  $4,294.03 - $5,354.90 Bi-Weekly
