About Our Opportunity

 

We are seeking a Senior Clinical Advisor to advance system-wide health workforce priorities. Reporting to the Senior Executive Director, Health Human Resources and OHPR, the Senior Clinical Advisor will play a pivotal role in shaping workforce strategies, policies, and programs by applying their clinical expertise and leadership.  This role is designed for a senior leader who has significant clinical practice experience, as well as administrative leadership experience.  This role is for a senior nurse leader or a senior leader with an allied health background. 

 

The Senior Clinical Advisor will have influence over the development and implementation of health workforce strategies, policies, and programs. This will support the Government in meeting its health and wellness objectives which are focused on ensuring a sustainable health system and improving health care and population health outcomes for Nova Scotians.

 

This position requires a deep understanding of the Canadian health system, and the challenges and opportunities facing provinces as we recruit, retain, redesign, and educate the health workforce of the future.  Experience working and leading within Canadian health systems will be considered a strong asset. 

 

The Senior Clinical Advisor will play a critical role in developing and implementing workforce strategies, policies, and programs, ensuring a nursing and/or allied health professional perspective is central to public policy development, program design, evaluation, and health workforce planning. Primary Accountabilities

 

As the Senior Clinical Advisor, you will be responsible to:

 

  • Provide strategic clinical advice, expertise, and consultation to the DHW, OHPR and HHR teams regarding healthcare professional workforce scopes of practice and integration.
  • Contribute to the interpretation, development, implementation, and evaluation of provincial health workforce strategies, policies, and programs.
  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to ensure the alignment of health workforce initiatives with government objectives.
  • Provide clinical insights for system-wide workforce planning and forecasting to recommend priorities for investment.
  • Monitor and analyze trends in healthcare workforce planning and make recommendations to inform strategic decisions.  

 

Qualifications and Experience

 

To be successful within this role you must be a licensed clinical health professional such as:

 

  • A Registered Nurse in good standing with the Nova Scotia College of Nursing, with extensive clinical experience and executive or management experience.
  • A Practicing regulated health professional governed by the appropriate regulatory governing body, with extensive clinical experience and executive or management experience.

 

You will also have experience with the following:

  • Experience in the delivery of both community-based care and acute-based care settings.
  • Have strong leadership, strategic thinking, and analytical skills.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration abilities.

Pay Grade:  EC 14 

Salary Range:  $4,550.68 - $5,688.35 Bi-Weekly
