About Our Opportunity

 

As the Senior Financial Analyst, you will be responsible for providing a wide range of financial support services including high level and complex financial analysis, accounting, budgeting, forecasting, year end and financial consulting for the client department, Offices, and external agencies funded by the client department.

 

As Senior Financial Analyst, you will report to the Manager, Financial Advisory Services.

Primary Accountabilities

 

  • Responsible for the financial administration, management, and coordination of existing programs delivered by the client department and Offices.
  • Provides direction and support on matters relating to the interpretation of financial policy, generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP), and Public Sector Accounting Board Standards (PSAB).
  • Responsible for the preparation of accurate and timely financial information as needed, including annual budgets, year-end and reporting requirements, monthly forecasts, and other financial planning advice and analysis.
  • Leads special projects and interdepartmental committees with other departmental staff, client agencies, and outside consultants as required.

Qualifications and Experience

 

This may be the right opportunity for you if you have High School completion with 3 years post-secondary professional accounting training with six years of related experience. An equivalent combination of training and experience may be considered. A Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) designation or enrollment in a CPA program will be considered an asset.

 

Knowledge and experience of the corporate financial management system (SAP) or similar applications are considered assets.

 

You are detail-oriented, decisive, and guided by generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) and PSAB standards while applying an innovative approach to your work. You are proficient with Microsoft Office programs, including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook. You possess strong analytical, communication (verbal and written), partnering and relationship-building skills, and intercultural and diversity proficiency. You have strong time management skills and can prioritize work and resources to meet strict deadlines.

 

We will assess the above qualifications and competencies using one or more tools: written examination, standardized tests, oral presentations, interview(s), and reference checks.

Equivalency

 

An undergraduate degree in commerce or a related discipline with five years of related experience.

Pay Grade:  TE 24  

Salary Range:  $2,370.01 - $2,791.38 Bi-Weekly
