About Our Opportunity


The Case Management & Education Services, Service Design & Delivery works as part of Nova Scotia Design Service (NSDS) and is currently seeking a highly energetic and team oriented individual for the position of Senior .NET Developer (CSO3) to join the Labour Market Program Support System (LaMPSS) team.  You will be supported by the Manager, Service Design & Delivery for Case Management.


Primary Accountabilities

You will lead and support junior developers in various tasks and projects.  You will find this position attractive if you are an innovative professional with a strong desire to contribute to the effective and efficient applications of information technology that will support the successful achievements of client goals and objectives. As the Senior Developer, you play a leading role to ensure that new and existing business applications meet the need of business clients, ensuring they are developed and maintained using Nova Scotia Government standards and methodology.


You will be part of a high-performing team that supports a diverse group of programs in multiple departments, whose staff and community-based partners use the LaMPSS system for grants management and case management. You will bring your results driven skills and creative side as you join the team supporting the LaMPSS system day-to-day and working on existing project in progress and new projects.


Qualifications and Experience


Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related field of student, plus a minimum of 3 years related experience, or graduation from a recognized Information Technology program plus a minimum of 3 years and 6 months related experience, or an equivalent combination of training and experience.


This would be a great fit for someone who has the following training, skills or work experience:


  • Business system analysis and design, SDLC methodology, IT principles including hardware and software architecture, networking and communications, database design, information security, change management and configuration management.
  • Superior communication skills (both written and verbal).
  • Interpersonal skills as well have proven ability to interact effectively with clients, staff, peers, and management.
  • Flexible and adaptable to ever changing priorities and new technology.
  • Proficiency and track record in Oracle databases and PL/SQL.
  • ASP.Net application design and development using Microsoft and Web technologies (Preference C#), ASP.NET, Azure DevOps, MS SQL Server and Visual Studio).
  • High degree of problem-solving ability, design and programming discipline and creative organizational and planning skills for task and project management including the determination of schedules, assignments, and project deadlines.
  • Developing solutions using Microsoft technologies.
  • Experience with Microsoft & Oracle development tools.
  • Experience with relational database modelling.
  • Experience with ICM and/or LaMPSS and/or case management systems.
  • Extensive liaison with a wide range of internal and externals stakeholders including business clients, technical and non-technical staff and contractors.

Additional Information


The following work experience would be considered assets:


  • Knowledge and experience in the following would be considered an asset: SharePoint, Azure DevOps, SQL Server Reporting Services, .NET Core, Razor Pages, Vue, XML, system testing and previous production support.
  • Deploying applications within the Nova Scotia Government infrastructure.
  • Applying modifications to applications to conform to Nova Scotia Government technology standards.
  • Providing internet-based access and security, forms, and reports, and supporting the robust data privacy/sharing requirements associated with personal data entry/storage within Government.

Pay Grade:  PR 14  

Salary Range:  $2,476.14 - $3,015.17 Bi-Weekly
