About Our Opportunity

 

This position reports to the childcare subsidy manager and will be a key team player supporting the subsidy and licencing team. In this role, you will respond to a high volume of applications and inquiries from applicants, clients, staff, and other government departments. Using your sound organizational skills and strong attention to detail, you will ensure the integrity of data, records, and services provided.

 

Work is performed in a fast paced, highly sensitive, confidential environment. This is a perfect opportunity for you if you are attentive to detail, highly meticulous and proficient with spreadsheets, report writing, and computer systems (including case management software and online applications and portals).

 

As the Clerk, you are critical in providing accurate information and responding to requests in a timely manner; ensuring there are no impacts to services for Nova Scotians.

Primary Accountabilities

 

As the Clerk 3, a few of your key responsibilities will include:

 

  • Responding to requests and applications for programs and services, including request for more information from childcare subsidy applicants, returning phone calls and emails, following up on inquiries to the department
  • Entering application into data base
  • Providing general office administrative support to Licensing Services
  • Retrieving complaints from complaint line, following up on the complainants, and entering details into AMANDA system
  • Maintaining spreadsheets, data entry tracking forms, completing reports, as requested
  • Periodically provide support to other departments to assist in staff coverage.

Qualifications and Experience

 

To be considered for this opportunity, you have 4 years related experience, or previous administrative experience in an office environment.  An equivalent level of education, training and experience will be considered.

 

You will possess strong organizational skills and customer service skills with an ability to plan and prioritize work. You have exceptional communication skills (written and verbal) with an ability to address and manage client dissatisfaction professionally and courteous.

 

You work well independently or as part of a team, depending on the nature of work involved.  You have exceptional organizational skills when following procedures, ability to complete multiple tasks, during times of high work volume work and client inquiries.   You have excellent time management skills identifying top priorities and pays direct attention to critical tasks to ensure that deadlines are met. 

 

For this position, your experience and competency in a computerized environment with proficient and accurate keyboarding and data entry skills is required.  You will have experience adapting to rapidly evolving technologies and proficient in Microsoft Software products such as Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, and general Internet research.

 

You must also exercise sound judgement and maintain strict confidentiality.

Pay Grade:  CL 18  

Salary Range:  $1,684.00 - $1,884.17 Bi-Weekly
