About Our Opportunity

 

  • Supporting the Program of Learning Assessment in Nova Scotia (PLANS), you are responsible for shipping/receiving, inventory, sorting, cross-referencing, and tracking provincial assessment and examination booklets within strict timeframes. You will work as part of a team to receive hundreds of boxes of booklets, reconcile thousands of booklets, and account for all returns
  • You’ll work with a range of specialized technology and software to organize shipping and receiving, as well as programming and working with data, ensuring accuracy of student records. You will also cut booklets and scan them using specialized software.
  • You will assist in data entry, document preparation, inventory, and archiving records according to provincial government standards. You will maintain security and confidentiality of student materials according to strict guidelines in accordance with the Privacy Act. You’ll provide professional client service with internal and external clients in the administration of division operations. You will also have an opportunity to work on additional projects within the Department as they arise and perform other duties, as assigned.

Qualifications and Experience

 

To be considered for this opportunity, you:

 

  • are currently a student enrolled in a post-secondary institution, available to work in the summer of 2025 and are returning to school in the fall of 2025.
  • have good organizational skills and are accurate and efficient with the ability to multi-task. 
  • work well in individual settings and in team environments.
  • have a keen eye for attention to detail and the ability to troubleshoot issues when they arise.
  • have experience using computer applications (Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook and other similar applications) and are familiar with photocopiers, scanners, paper cutters.

 

Assets include

 

  • Occupational Health and Safety courses
  • Experience in an inventory and office environment
  • Experience with use of pallet lifters

 

We will assess the above qualifications and competencies using one or more of the following tools: interview(s), skills test, and reference check.

Working Conditions

 

This position requires some lifting, moving, and stacking of boxes and bins up to 25 kg (55 lbs) each

Additional Information

 

  • Work will be completed in a comfortable office setting in downtown Halifax.
  • Hours of work may be completed during business hours, approximately 8:00 am to 4:00 pm.
  • This competition is being leveraged to fill summer student casual vacancies with a projected start date of May 4, 2025 and a projected end date of August 29, 2025.

 

     

Pay Grade:  HOURLY 

Salary Range:  $18.22 - $29.69 Hourly
