Your Role and Its Impact
As the Technical Architect, Contracts on the IT Contract Management team, you will provide creative solutions to resolve complex business problems by understanding client requirements and system capabilities. You will ensure that operational requirements are appropriately captured in contracts, as you are fluent in the life cycle of a contract. You will liaise with our partners in Legal and Procurement Services as you work through contract negotiations, amendments, extensions, and interpreting terms and conditions as they apply. You will be required to work with clients with varying levels of digital literacy in determining the root cause of their need and executing the appropriate Contract Management activity.
As the Technical Architect, Contracts within a team of specialists and analysts, you will provide direction and supervision to members of the team. You will mentor team members and lead by example. You will build effective, collaborative, high impact relationships with clients, team members, peers, colleagues, and management characterized by mutual trust and respect.
As Technical Architect, Contracts with Enterprise Technology, CSDS, you will provide Contractual services, supporting our partners, including government departments, agencies, boards, commissions and offices, as well as Nova Scotia Health and the IWK. You will lead and participate in projects and initiatives that improve the lives of the citizens of Nova Scotia – you will make a difference!
To be Successful
You have passion about people’s service experience and the experience to write, negotiate, evaluate and present contract and agreement solutions to our clients on time, every time. You are knowledgeable in Contract Management, experienced in procurement policies and standards; and comfortable with managing multiple Contract and Vendor management executions at once. You have a proven track record of successful Contract awards, as a result of your experience.
You have strategic leadership experience, a track record of delivery, digital awareness, and experience in IT technology. You understand current technology trends and service provision to support the writing of appropriate contractual solutions, as well as procurement activities including Tenders, Request for Information, Request for Proposals, and Alternative Procurements. You expect your success to be measured by Contracts that exceed your client’s expectations, in both added value and timeliness. You have the professional acumen to instinctively approach each project with the appropriate level of urgency. You are intrigued by digital Contracts, of the highest complexity.

Additional experience that adds value:
- Proven experience in the field of contract management, vendor management, and Procurement as relates to writing Contractual agreements, and tenders; as well as leading negotiations, enterprise agreements, and executing all appropriate tender activities.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills, including the confidence to present to clients of varying technical understanding, the complexities of the contractual process.
- Knowledge and experience in supporting the core Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL) Service Support processes to ensure consistent level of services.
- Proven experience leading project teams and providing subject matter expertise on broader projects as will be required as a representative of CSDS.
- A proven depth of understanding around the importance of your client’s priorities and the impact it has on the client and the public when digital services are required.
Education & Experience
- Proven experience in Contract Management.
- A Bachelors Degree in Information Technology + 5 years related experience.
- Or graduation from a recognized Information Technology Program + 5 years and 6 months related experience.
- Or an equivalent combination of training and experience may be acceptable in place of education requirements. Applicants relying on education and experience equivalencies must demonstrate such equivalencies in their application.
