About The Opportunity

Reporting to the Manager, DevSecOps Cloud you are proficient in providing guidance and specialized support services with a focus on modern Cloud, and DevSecOps management practises.  You will ensure effective and efficient availability, deployment, and maintenance of IT cloud and DevSecOps assets for the Government of Nova Scotia in a manner that meets or exceeds established customer service standards.  You will play a key role in Cloud and DevSecOps services support to ensure a consistent level of service to our partners and clients.

 

Key Responsibilities

As the Computer Services Officer 3 (Technical Specialist – DevSecOps Cloud), your primary accountabilities will include:

 

  •  Working with other technology teams within your own work unit.

 

  •  Monitoring and maintaining cloud services on behalf of partners and clients.

 

  •  Working frequently with technology teams outside of your work unit.

 

  •  Resolving incidents and problems.

 

  •  Providing specialized technical support and service to clients and partners.

 

  •  Supporting operational service and regular maintenance activities.

 

  •  Providing effective communications with partners and clients when needed.

 

  •  Participating in a 24/7 on-call support rotation.

 

  •  Providing tier 2 support to Technical Analysts

 

Qualifications and Experience

To be successful in this role you will have: a bachelor’s degree in Computer Science plus a minimum of three years experience; or graduation from a recognized Information Technology program plus 3 years and six months experience; or combined equivalent combination of training and experience.  Experience must include:

 

  •  2 years working in cloud environments such as Azure, GCP and\or AWS.

 

  •  2 years working in 7\24 mission critical environments.

 

  •  Experience with containerization and DevSecOps.

 

  •  Excellent customer service and communication skills (both verbal and written).

 

  •  The ability to be flexible and adaptable to changing business priorities.

 

  •  Experience of Agile practices.

 

Assets

The following would be considered assets:

 

  •  Good understanding of cloud networking.

 

  •  Working knowledge of cloud WAFs and firewalls.

 

  •  Terraform skills.

 

  •  Understanding of Infrastructure as code.

 

  •  Understanding of git and GitLab.

 

  •  Working knowledge of Python and YAML.

 

  •  Knowledge of project management methodologies, ITIL processes and IT Security policies.
