About Our Opportunity

 

As the Mechanic 3, you will be responsible for the outfitting, repairs, and maintenance of the Department of Natural Resources Fleet of heavy-duty vehicles and equipment. Equipment must be safe, reliable, and available. This position reports to the Manager Fleet Maintenance Coordinator. 

Primary Accountabilities

 

  • Maintain, diagnose, and preform major and minor repairs on the departments heavy duty fleet (including but not limited to: Heavy Trucks, Tractors, Heavy equipment, ATV's, snowmobiles, trailers, fire trucks, UTVs, Lawn mowers, fork lift, motor bikes, electric and hybrid vehicles).
  • Transport jet fuel and equipment throughout the province.
  • Must maintain all required OH&S certifications. Must maintain a safe workplace and is responsible for his/her own safety and for the safety of all others in the workplace.
  • Service calls in the field.
  • Maintain accurate repair records detailing repairs completed, repair hours per unit, and parts used. 
  • Provide feedback on a regular basis to the supervisor on the operational performance of the heavy equipment shop.

Qualifications and Experience

 

This may be the right opportunity for you if you have a red seal Truck and Transport Mechanic journeyman certification, or a journeyman certificate in Heavy Duty Repair. Class 3 Drivers Licence or greater with deck/boom truck experience would be considered an asset.

 

The successful completion of training and knowledge of the Occupational Health and Safety Act, First Aid and WHMIS would also be considered assets. Must demonstrate oral and written communication skills and the ability to work in a team environment.

 

You have strong time management skills in order to plan, organize and prioritize tasks and reports within scheduled timelines.

 

We will assess the above qualifications and competencies using one or more of the following tools: written examination, standardized tests, oral presentations, interview(s), and reference checks.

Working Conditions

 

Most jobs to be done in a garage type repair shop. Occasional work to be done roadside or at another depot, which could be indoor or outdoor. Regular exposure to moderate amounts of noise in the garage, dirt, grease, and oil at most work sites.

Pay Grade:  MOS 18  

Salary Range:  $2,277.39 - $2,350.02 Bi-Weekly
