About Our Opportunity

 

As the Geographic Information System (GIS) Programmer/Analyst, you will develop and maintain applications to support Forest research, management, and planning initiatives. 

 

Primary Accountabilities

 

You will be responsible for designing, building, and administering GIS tools and processes to collect, maintain and provide access to forest information within the Department of Natural Resources and Renewables in collaboration with other IT and forestry professionals.

 

You will use your programming skills to develop web deployed GIS tools and interfaces used to collect, store, process, and distribute forestry information using an ESRI ArcGIS platform. Within the Forestry Division, you will work closely with the Forest Management and Planning Section, the Forest Inventory Section and the Regional Services Branch as well as forestry stakeholder groups.

 

This position reports to the supervisor of GIS and Forest Interpretation within Forest Inventory.

 

Qualifications and Experience

 

This may be the right opportunity for you if you have a Bachelor’s degree in a relevant Geomatics field along with 5 years related experience or graduation from an approved technical school in the field of geomatics with 8 years related experience; an equivalent combination of training and experience may be acceptable.

 

This position requires the following Requirement:

  • Work experience developing web deployed applications using HTML/Javascript/CSS. 

Additional consideration will be given to candidates with work experience using the .net framework or developing GIS applications.

Candidates will also have demonstrated an ability to meet deadlines and maintain accuracy and productivity.

Pay Grade:  PR 13  

Salary Range:  $2,396.86 - $2,913.59 Bi-Weekly
