About Our Opportunity
Tourism Nova Scotia collaborates with communities and industry to attract visitors to the province and increase tourism revenues through experience and sector development, business coaching, marketing, and visitor servicing. We lead tourism marketing and development initiatives to benefit all regions of our province.
The Market Development Specialist is responsible for leading market development programming through a business-to-business strategy. You will serve as a specialist resource on travel trade, specifically supporting the markets of Canada and the United States. You will be responsible for building relationships with key travel trade partners in these markets – promoting and selling Nova Scotia as a vacation destination, implementing marketing partnerships, and developing export-ready product and itineraries.
You will plan, develop, implement, evaluate, and monitor programs that support industry partners. As a travel trade specialist, you will provide guidance and advice to industry regarding opportunities to build their business through the travel trade.
You will be responsible for related budgets and communication with partners to ensure timely partnership activity and deliverables. You will analyse and provide program feedback to partners and offer program recommendations and advice to management.
Qualifications and Experience
You bring with you a Bachelors’ degree in Tourism, Business, Public Relations or Marketing plus 5 years related experience in sales/marketing and program development and implementation.

You exercise diplomacy, sound judgement, and have strong relationship building skills. You possess exceptional organizational, budgeting, presentation, and communication skills (verbal and written) with the ability to manage multiple deadlines simultaneously. You are self-directed, take initiative, and value creativity in a team environment. You have sound experience using Microsoft programs.
You must posses a valid Nova Scotia driver’s licence
Assets for this role include:
- Destination marketing/sales experience.
- Experience working with travel trade.
- Experience working with partners in a tourism capacity to collaborate on projects and offer advice.

Working Conditions
You will be required to travel throughout the province to host trade and media events which may take place outside of normal business hours.
Additional Information
This is a TERM employment opportunity with anticipated end date of January 9,2026. The appointment status (‘term’, ‘temporary’ or ‘casual’) is dependent on the start date of the successful candidate.

Pay Grade: PR 13
Salary Range: $2,556.10 - $3,107.16 Bi-Weekly
