The Agriculture Risk Management and Lending Division, includes the Nova Scotia Crop and Livestock Insurance Commission which provides agricultural entrepreneurs with insurance products enabling them to manage the risk of financial losses caused by crop failures or animal production losses. It administers 16 crop insurance plans, a dairy livestock insurance plan, a poultry insurance plan and also administers a Wildlife Compensation Program. The Commission reports to the Minister of Agriculture and is a key component of the business risk management services that the department offers to the industry under the AgriInsurance platform.
About Our Opportunity
The Junior Field Services Agent is an integral part of the Nova Scotia Crop and Livestock Insurance Commission team. They are responsible for delivery of client services on behalf of the Commission providing technical field expertise to inform Commission operations.
Primary Accountabilities
As the successful candidate, some of your primary accountabilities will include:
- Monitoring and inspecting crop fields to evaluate causes of damage and ensure best management practices are being used.
- Conducting yield verifications and assessments.
- Adjusting crop insurance claims.
Qualifications and Experience
To be the successful candidate, you must be a professional agrologist or eligible for membership. You will have a bachelor's degree in a related field plus a drivers license and your own vehicle.
Additionally, you possess:
- Knowledge of management practices involved in the growing of crops.
- Demonstrated interpersonal and communication skills to facilitate confident client interactions.
- You must be self-motivated and able to work both independently and in collaboration with the team.
Equivalency
Applicants relying on education and experience equivalencies must demonstrate such equivalencies in their application.
Working Conditions
Most of your time is spent in an office environment with an occasional outdoor work in field setting involving travel on foot over rough terrain and sometimes in remote location.

Salary Range: $30.18 - $37.01 Hourly
