The successful candidate in this role will help citizens and businesses of Nova Scotia with a variety of transactions related to the Registry of Motor Vehicles Program and Business and Citizen Services Programs (such as Residential Tenancy and the Registry of Joint Stocks).

Primary Accountabilities

 

Working in a fast paced, continuously evolving service delivery environment, you duties will include:

  • Engaging with clients to provide a high standard of seamless customer service for the Registry of Motor Vehicles programs and Business and Citizen Services Programs.
  • Ensuring Access Nova Scotia meets clients' needs and clients accomplish what they set out to do, have their questions answered and receive the support they require.
  • Serving many clients every day accurately and efficiently helping them register vehicles, obtain/renew drivers’ licenses, renew license plates, complete knowledge tests, marriage licenses and more.
  • Examining records, process documents, and apply relevant legislation and policy accurately and efficiently.
  • Exercising a high degree of confidentiality when entering and retrieving information from systems and applications.
  • Maintaining the security and control of public funds and issuing and securing control of serial numbered and non-serial numbered inventory.

Qualifications and Experience

 

To be considered for this position, you hold a minimum of four years of experience in a fast-paced, front line customer service environment. An equivalent combination of training and experience may be considered. You are a flexible team-player with strong customer service skills, and you complete your work with efficiency and accuracy. In addition, you possess the following:

 

  • Experience in balancing accounts;
  • Excellent attention to detail;
  • Excellent judgment;
  • Strong communication skills;
  • Demonstrated ability to diplomatically deal with the general public and to effectively manage difficult client engagements;
  • Strong data entry and computer skills;
  • A high aptitude to acquire, retain, organize and apply policies and procedures;
  • Strong prioritization and problem-solving skills.

 

The following would be viewed as assets: knowledge of Service Nova Scotia programs, bilingualism (French and English), the ability to scrutinize and reconcile financial information and to detect and resolve discrepancies, and experience in cash handling.

 

We will assess the above qualifications and competencies using one or more of the following tools: written examination, standardized tests, oral presentations, interview(s), and reference checks.

Equivalency

 

An equivalent combination of training, education, and experience will be considered. Related equivalencies may include, but are not limited to:

  • A completed Bachelor's degree
  • A completed 2-year Post-Secondary diploma along with 2 years of related experience

Working Conditions

 

Travel may be required for training and work purposes. Travel expenses will be reimbursed by the employer.

May be required to work overtime on occasion.

Pay Grade:  CL 18  

Salary Range:  $1,812.15 - $2,027.56 Bi-Weekly

Note: The salary rates shown are effective April 1, 2026. Should you start in this position before April 1, 2026, your salary will be based on the current rates until April 1.
