About Our Opportunity

 

The Inventory Officer/ Project Coordinator reports to the Manager of Leasing and Facilities Planning Group.  The Leasing and Facilities Planning Group of the Department of Public Works provides quality services and support to other government organizations. 

Primary Accountabilities

 

This position provides expert technical knowledge, skills and training in maintaining an inventory control program (Archibus) for all capital assets including office furniture, system furniture, vehicles, and equipment in Government departments, boards, commissions, and agencies throughout the Province. Working closely with client departments, Agencies, Boards, and Commissions, this position will assist in determining surplus furniture needs, while coming up with solutions that work for both the end user and the employer.
 
 
You are also responsible for warehousing all surplus furniture and equipment, including modular system furniture into Deptment of Public Works warehouse facility, assisting with loading and offloading of items and verifying condition of items.  The incumbent is responsible for maintaining and ensuring a neat and tidy facility to adhere to fire and security regulations as applicable. Furthermore, this position will schedule appointments for shipping and receiving government assets throughout the Province and works closely with the Facilities Planner to assist with an accurate inventory listing of surplus modular system furniture and components, including preparing orders from product listings/drawings.  They will be required to collect and stage multiple orders, receive/ship orders as required.
 
 
On Occasion, this position will be required to travel throughout the province to visit departments, warehouses, constructions sites, and instructional workshops regarding surplus disposal and relocations.

Qualifications and Experience

 

As the ideal candidate, you will require high school completion plus post‐secondary training related to the position and 5 years of related experience in a buyer position; or an equivalent combination of training and experience may be acceptable.

 

The following are considered an asset:

 

  • A professional designation/certificate in the supply chain field such as CSCMP, SCMP, SMT, P.Log, CCLP or PSPP, PMP.
  • Knowledge of construction materials, plus related work experience in sourcing/buying construction materials.
  • Experience with the identification, inventory, handling, assembly, disassembly, and storage of systems furniture and workstation components.
  • Forklift Certification – Training will be provided if not already certified, however the ability to operate a forklift is a requirement of this position.

 

On occasion travel across the province is a requirement of this position; as such, a valid driver’s license with a clean driving record is required.

 

As the ideal candidate, you have:

 

  • A strong commitment to customer service.
  • Experience in managing inventory systems.
  • The ability to process a large volume of work under tight deadlines.
  • Ability to work safely under minimum supervision.
  • Strong computer skills (Microsoft Word, Excel, Powerpoint, SAP, Archibus).

Working Conditions

 

This role is primarily based in a comfortable office environment, and you may be working at your computer for extended periods of time. You may be required to travel within the province to visit sites or regional offices.

Pay Grade:  TE 18  

Salary Range:  $2,046.28 - $2,403.04 Bi-Weekly
