About Us

At the Government of Nova Scotia, we believe students bring fresh perspectives and innovative ideas that help shape the future of public service. Working across multiple sectors, we deliver programs and services that matter to Nova Scotians, guided by our commitment to diversity, belonging, and an environment where different perspectives and experiences are welcomed and respected. We encourage applications from individuals who value and champion equity, diversity, inclusion, and accessibility (EDIA).

As we continue to design and deliver modern, innovative digital services, our focus is on making it easier for people to access the programs and supports they need. By bringing together technology, data, and people centred design, teams across government are improving service experiences for Nova Scotians. This work is driven by curiosity, creativity, and diverse perspectives. Students who join these teams contribute to real digital initiatives, learn modern ways of working, and help shape services that are accessible, inclusive, and responsive—today and into the future.

One Application, Many Opportunities

This competition is part of the Future Opportunities Stream for Students—a centralized intake designed to build an inventory of students with diverse skills, interests, and experiences. Through this stream, students may be matched with a variety of opportunities as positions become available across government programs, including roles focused on innovation, digital services, data, and modern service delivery, as well as other emerging priority areas.

These opportunities are designed with students in mind. Positions are temporary and offer meaningful, hands‑on work experience that supports skill development, applied learning, and career exploration in digital and innovation‑focused environments.

Work close to home—or somewhere new. Opportunities may be available in multiple locations across Nova Scotia, depending on operational needs and student interest, including hybrid or technology‑enabled work environments where applicable.

As part of the application process, you will complete a series of pre-screening questions to help us better understand your skills, strengths, and interests. Not all skills are required for every role—some may be considered assets rather than essential, depending on the position. While there are several questions, they are designed to be straightforward and should not take long to complete. Thoughtful responses help us match students with the most suitable opportunities.

Equity matters. Some roles may be designated for specific employment equity groups. To be considered for these opportunities, applicants must self-identify during the application process.

Learn more by reviewing Nova Scotia Government’s Employment Equity Policy, including details on designated groups.
